My display styles A-E have unaccountably changed. When I try to amend them to how I want them and press 'Save Changes' nothing changes on my 'Your Books' pages. When I go back into the display styles page my choices have disappeared and what's more the actual styles in my library do not match the defaults on the 'change display styles' page.

Is it all within this account, @boldface? Do you have another account that might be mixed up here? Had you edited your styles before? (The default ones do indeed change over time.) What browser and OS?
3boldface
Yes, it's within this account. I only have the one. I edited my styles probably a year or two ago and they've been fine up to now. I use Internet Explorer 9 and have done for many months without issue. My OS is Windows Vista. What bothers me is that I can't change the styles at the moment. Actually, I also have Chrome which I don't usually use at all. Maybe I could try editing there. I'll let you know the outcome.

One more question: Are you using the old or new design? (If you're not sure, what color is the bar at the top of your browser - dark brown or the salmon-pink of the header of an unread Talk post?)

3>I have the same problem with IE10, Win8. I was able to make the changes with Chrome. There is no problem displaying with IE as long as no changes are attempted.

Thanks. Trying on another browser would be interesting. I can't replicate these reports. That would narrow things down.

I recently changed to IE 64-bit, so I tried using the 32-bit version. It makes no difference - the problem remains. I also tried the 'Compatibilty View' feature in IE that is meant to correct features in sites that may not be compatible with the later versions of IE (no offence!), but, you'll be pleased to know, that wasn't the issue either. Finally, I used Chrome, which works perfectly. Conclusion: I should ditch IE and change to Chrome.
However, there does remain a compatibility issue in this area with IE, at least IE 9.
Thanks for everybody's comments.

Okay, I'm not sure this is going to get fixed before the whole thing is destroyed. Ammar is very close to debuting a whole new way of reordering and selecting fields, which changes everything about how this works, and which therefore disinclines me from trying to fix a system that's going away, unless I can get farther on the replicability. I say let's give him until next Monday to release that.

I use Safari on my iPad 2 to enter books in LibraryThing. I am trying to reconfigure my Display Styles. Drop and drag does not work. Suggestions?

Same problem. I was able to do it on my PC with Firefox, but having to charge that up every time I want to change settings will get old very fast.
The old way worked!

Hi Tim,
My recommended display styles for visitors are quite different to the ones I set. They wont display Dewey number for instance, a crucial need. I have two accounts , i.e. philosophate02 and makkiyad2015 with same problem in both accounts

I should add that I work on a Mac OSX 10.9.5 using Firefox

Sorry, can you explain further.
You can only specify one of your styles as being for visitors. The others will all be their account's styles or, if not signed in, the defaults.
