I just picked up a copy of The Work & Play of Adrian Wilson (which is a stunning volume, and I'll post some pictures later if anyone is interested). Oddly, however, it came in an apparently custom-made clear acetate slipcase. Has anyone seen anything like this before, save the LEC's Looking Backwards?

No, but I would love to find out where to get one.

>2 varielle: I'd avoid it but I'd like to have the book. The slipcase won't protect the book from the sun. I have some clear display boxes (not for books) and they are a pain to keep clean. Dust shows easily and the case can be scratched much too easily.

I'd love to see some pictures. Wilson's The Design of Books was pretty much my introduction to the idea of fine press books 20+ years ago.

A very early Arion Press book entitled "A Travel Book" by Fred Martin (1976) was issued in an orange plexiglass slipcase. This was the 4th Arion Press publication.

>5 dlphcoracl: Interesting! I'm not sure why anyone would do it though, I don't think it's a very good system for protecting the book.

At least one other copy of Work and Play offered online also has the acrylic slipcase, so I have to think the press was involved.
