So often religious teachings (and I use that word very loosely) seem to be about power, money and sex—an unholy trinity. How many times have scriptures said yes, you can do whatever you want to other people!

Just a note on chronology: none of the texts being used to rationalize this blasphemy are "bronze age." They're all significantly newer than that.
