Writing that @#$% paper, of course. Or any of the seven other homework assignments due this week. (Eight things due, three classes -- why does this seem a little over-the-top?)

Working at my job, of course. I do keep up with it, though. Haven't missed a deadline in my life.

I should be homeschooling my kids. I actually tore myself away from here twice today to make sure my son understood algebraic expression and to read to my youngest. Luckily, my 14yo daughter is self motivated. And she's been helping me add to the last letter first game. *blushes* You think my old brain could remember all those words?

I should be correcting projects and writing lesson plans. I have banned myself from LT at school, but at least I can procrastinate at home!

I didn't get to type my paper. Stupid cousin stole the computer from me, while he was being paid by the hour to help dear old grandma learn to use her computer and not my computer. What does he do? Helps for five mins, then goes on my computer (during which time she pays him as well)! He's so on my bad list right now.

I have 5 1/2 pages, which is good. Of course, the paper is supposed to be upwards of 12, and I'm running out of things to say, which is bad. I also did all but one of my assignments (and will finish it in the next few minutes) for my other classes, which is good. However, the paper is due Thursday morning, and tomorrow I have work and class, which is bad. Pretty soon here I'm going to sleep, which is good. You probably won't see much of me around here tomorrow, either, which is . . . bad? Anyhow, after Thursday, I'll have slightly more free time to spend here, and I, at least, think that's good!

I am wondering who decides which books get press (Harry Potter) and which get censored? After all, censorship is becoming America's favorite past-time. The US gov't (and their corporate friends), already detain protesters, ban books like "America Deceived" from Amazon and Wikipedia, shut down Imus and fire 21-year tenured, BYU physics professor Steven Jones because he proved explosives, thermite in particular, took down the WTC buildings. Free Speech forever (especially for books).

Okay, here's a bit of scandal for you: I am currently teaching a class. My students are discussing their reader responses in groups and I am, in theory, supposed to be listening to their discussion, evaluating their participation, and collecting ideas for our regroup and discussion as a class (in 7 minutes).
But I just took attendance in my college's online system, and this was too good an opportunity to pass up.
Back to discussing Milan Kundera!

Sorry about your dog and cat. I have family whose pets were always getting shot at by their dumb, stupid neighbor kids. People can be so mean.

Today I'm supposed to be making a gift for my cousin's wedding. Instead, we went to a shelter this lady runs out of her house and decided to foster two kittens. Keep in mind we just adopted a cat from this lady two weeks ago. And we already had two cats to begin with.
But they're so cuuuuuttttttteeeee!!!!!!

Kittens are cute.
They kinda look like bear cubs, ya know? Maybe not, i just had the privilege to see them on a trip a couple months ago, and you wouldn't believe how much cubs look like kittens! They even make little mewling and snuffling sounds, it's soooo cute.

I never thought about it, but maybe that's why so many of our cats got bear nicknames--Pooky bear, teddy bear, etc.
We do have to give at least one of these guys away eventually. 5 people and 5 cats in one house is a bit much. *sniff!*

I wish I could get a cat, but my mom's allergic. we do have a dog and a bunny though. and Henry, the bunny, acts more like a dog or a cat than a bunny.

Letta, I can relate to that one!
My friend had eight pugs, and one was raised with cats. That one pug purred for the rest of his life...no joke. I heard it, and he frickin' purred!

What happened? I don't check in for a while and suddenly everyone is talking cats and rabbits!
Funny about rabbits. All our cat and kitten stuff started with me wanting to take in a dwarf bunny (a friend had two rabbits she thought were both males, then she had seven rabbits, and before the proud papa could be fixed they had 13 rabbits!). Hubby was against the rabbit because we had 2 cats. He took our daughters to the pet store on an adoption day and all they did was look at him with quivering lips and we had 3. We befriended the shelter lady and all of a sudden we were taking care of the 2 kittens!

Never puked out my nose (although if this thread carries on in this vein, I may do!), but once I was eating a jelly baby and someone made me laugh. I chunk of jelly baby shot up the back of by nose, and out through the front. Felt WEIRD!!!
238Marensr
I always associate Jelly Babies with the list of treats in the BBC adaptation of Dylan Thomas's A Child's Christmas in Wales.
"There were moist and many coloured jelly babies, marzipan, glaciers, and butter Welsh for the Welsh" (If I remember the book correctly though that whole section was added by the adaptation- still lovely though)
Not quite as dramatic as I had imagined I am afraid. Still a little chuckle imagining you with one of those up your nose Lady. . .

Yikes. I hate taking the bus home from school. It is so loud and the bus driver doesn't let us sit "past the emergency exits". Buses are made to kill the kids if they get in an accident. I mean no seat belts? Come on. You could have like a long seatbelt that adjusts.

I used to be a morning person, but hubby and kids are night owls. Now if I get a chance to sleep in, I take it. Homeschooling is nice in that I can honor their inner clocks. I'd rather have them wake up late in the morning than fight the losing battle to get them to sleep early.

I might go to bed at 10pm if I'm feeling especially sleepy, otherwise between 11pm-1pm. (I'm far from a night person - this is just to chat to LTers!) I would love to sleep past 7am, but I get at that time five days a week. Ideally, I'd like to sleep till 8-8:30am.

Don't you hate buses? They're so awful! One day I was outside waiting an hour for a bus to work before I gave up and called some people to try to find another way to work. (I was very late that day.)
322LettaAvanell
An Hour? poor you. there's two different buses that go by my house every half hour and the bus to school from downtown goes every fifteen minutes. of course the buses from my house are at the same time though, so if I miss one I have to wait half an hour for the next one. but I am moving in two weeks and then the bus will be every fifteen minutes and I won't even have to catch a different bus from downtown because they're both part of the City Loop. Yay!!! and I won't have to walk 6 blocks from the bus stop to my ballet studio anymore. now it will only be a block to 3 blocks.
323Kerian
#322 Letta:

324LettaAvanell
I hate it when a bus doesn't come. that has only happened to me once maybe twice. what's really annoying is when it comes on time but doesn't stop. that happened one time when I was waiting with my little sis and at least 3 other people.

Okay, now I'm feeling guilty for driving my car every place. I really need to reduce my carbon footprint, but the idea of waiting for a bus makes me cringe. I'm so impressed with people who take public transportation (and who live in places where the system is good--suburbs kind of suck that way).
Oh, and I'm supposed to be teaching again, but it's peer review day so they are working in groups. I'm not in the mood to walk around and listen in--instead I'm collecting copies of their review notes because some have not been completing them (shame!).

I really ought to be culling and packing books so we can move by the 22nd.
329suge
328---> *increduoulsy* of october?? so... you start packing on the 21st... at night.... I work best under pressure.
333LettaAvanell
actually suge, we're moving on the 20th and according to the schedule my mom made, the books have to be packed by Sunday night.

Yeah! Anarchists of the world, unite!
(Wait, that kinda defeats the purpose, doesn't it?)

I've always hating packing books. For some reason it always feels as though I'm parting with them forever instead of a couple weeks.
337suge
but planning not to unite is making plans.... I'm sooo confused. what kind of free spirts are we?

What am I supposed to be doing right now?
Leaving for a family dinner. Instead I'm reading LT posts.

I am supposed to go watch fireworks, but I don't want to deal with the crowds anymore today. An art fair and two parades was enough.

Hey, all! I haven't posted here before, but I saw the name of the thread, and it is just so perfect for me today I couldn't resist. So, instead of packing for a trip I'm leaving on in the morning, cleaning the fish tanks and getting them in good condition so all my little fishies don't die while I'm away, and doing a quick clean of the apartment so I don't return to a pigsty, I'm reading posts and posting on LT. *sighs* Well, I can always stay up late until I finish and then sleep on the plane tomorrow, right?

341: That sounds just like me. I'd probably be on the computer instead of packing for a trip. Right now though, I shouldn't probably be on the computer! ;)

Thanks, MrAndrew! I'm really looking forward to seeing my daughter and two of my sisters, and doing some snorkeling and lazing by the pool and good stuff like that.
About my name, it's supposed to be Storyteller, but that was already taken, so I took some liberties with the spelling.
Well, I can report that I have taken care of the fish, so they should be fine until I get back in 9 days, and I've also chosen & packed the (eight) books I'm going to be taking along, plus the electronic devices I will need (iPod, cellphone & charger, digital cameras & battery chargers, portable hard disk to download pics to, in case I take more than my 1-1/2 gig cards can hold, & charger, etc.).
I still haven't gotten around to packing clothes for the trip or cleaning the apartment. At this point, it's pretty clear that the packing is going to be a bit haphazard and the cleaning will wait until I get back (except for taking out the trash and washing up the last dish and cup I use in the morning).

I was supposed to be at yoga but I got to the studio and it had been cancelled. Now I should be doing the dishes from yesterday's party.
Welcome Storeetllr!
Welcome Storeetllr!

At this very moment, I should be walking out of the gym after spending an hour in Zumba class, but since I skipped out in favor of watching the Women's Finals of the Championships at Wimbledon (Venus won!), I could be balancing my checkbook and writing out bills. Instead, I'm sitting in my rocking chair learning how to navigate through this fantastic new website I just discovered!!!

Actuaries? What made you choose actuaries? I'm curious because my dad is an actuary and most people have never even heard of them.
349MrAndrew
Word association. LibreLove said "fantastic", i immediately thought of actuaries. The mind is a wondrous place.

KIK! I just read your post out loud to my parents. My mother laughed, my dad looked at me like, "of course he did, what else would he think"!

I should be getting ready to go to bed, but I'm about to raid the fridge for leftover birthday cake. I'm sleep-deprived and have no shame.

Welcome, Storeetllr and LibreLove!
I should be taking advantage of my free time by organizing my suitcases. I'm a very good packer, but only when I take the time to be so.
I should also be reading suge's book so I can actually finish it before I leave, but I'll get some reading done on the train, because I really should be getting ready to go meet her.

As usual, I should be sewing. Instead I'm digging up old posts just so I can tell myself I'm doing something and will get to the dresses in a minute..
355ChelseaB-ley
Right now I should be taking a shower, trying on my shirts, practicing my flute, and reading the book for school that I don't really want to read. *sigh*
356pollysmith
oh just boring stuff, cleaning my house, washing my laundry, balancing my checkbook, nothing important
358kgriffith
Same here, K!
Actually, I should be already sleeping. Or at least doing something worth not-sleeping for. Like finding that magical new job that's going to be my second love AND pay the bills, while allowing for a schedule where i can (a) spend some time with my partner and (b) go to school.
