Hi there,
Trying to remember a short story about two travelling women who were sort of magical champions in their land, called the Staff and the Sword, who administer justice.
I read two of their stories in different novella collections: in one, the sword judged the killer of a young woman by taking his hands so he could no longer do his trade, as punishment.
In the next, the Staff judged and entire village or region of men for their terrible views on treating women, marking them with the sign of the staff.
Been searching for this story/writer for a while, and can t seem to find them anywhere, would really appreciate the help, thank you. :)

I'm getting a Nancy Farmer vibe from your description, but I'm not familiar enough with her short stories to know if any match.

I've read this, or at least the first one. Let me ponder on the title.
Here we go: "Justice is a Two-Edged Sword" by Dana Stabenow, from Powers of Detection -- The women are called the Sword and the Seer, respectively, but the Seer uses a staff tool and the trial in question called for witnesses to place their hand upon the staff as part of a spell to prevent them from speaking lies. Google has a preview up for the book, and I found this snippet of text:

"The Sword of Justice had taken Nester's hands above the wrists. The stumps of his arms had been neatly sealed, no blood dripping, no bone showing, the skin healed cleanly across. The hands that had strangled the life from the young... (snippet ended)"I'm seeing a second short story called "A Woman's Work" from Unusual Suspects, but my quick look around didn't spot any story summaries.
