Found this yesterday and had to have it. Frankenstein: A Cultural History by Susan Tyler Hitchcock. Nice addition to put next to stuff by David J. Skal.

Sorry, but the damn touchstone keeps defaulting to the original novel by Mary Shelley.

Hey, OldSarge. That Hitchcock book sounds very interesting and seems like a good companion piece to The Monsters: Mary Shelley and the Curse of Frankenstein, which I'm reading now. I'll seek it out.

I really enjoy David J. Skal's writing, especially The Monster Show. Have you seen the documentaries he's done for some of the Universal monster DVD collections?

Being the true classic horror film geek that I am, I of course own every one.
