I'm not entirely sure of the genre: paranormal, dystopian, fantasy, post apocalypse - all would fit.
This is a series of books. I read the first a few years ago - less than 4 years ago. This is everything I can remember about the first book in the series.
Something has caused people to die yet remain in their physical bodies with urge to bite others. Very zombie like. There is a group of women who go out on missions and try to protect the living. They report to a woman they call "Mother". They are highly trained and at least some, if not all, have a tattoo of a snake on their backs. It's more than just a tattoo because it gives them some immunity to the zombie bite. The series centers on 3 sisters, two who are very athletic and one who is very good at research.
In the first book, the oldest sister becomes involved with the god of death (I believe) and finds out his has lost his ability to judge souls and it has caused the zombie plague on earth. He begins to fall in love with the oldest sister. They mate and it triggers something in her that brings forth her goddess like powers. They find our their mother was a goddess making the 3 sisters demigoddesses. But the powers only manifest when the girls have mated with someone from the dimension of the gods - maybe it even has to be a full god, I'm not sure.
There was also something about the sisters mother being the most powerful of the white magic (or whitelight) pantheon of gods.
I believe each sister had their own book. There was also something about a war brewing between the gods and the sisters, as well as the other human women with snake tatoos, getting their power from a snake god - without his knowledge.
I have done every Google search I can think of, and I can't find this series. Any help would be great. Please take some of my details with a grain of salt - I may have a few things wrong.
