Hello all,

About 10 years ago, I read a great fiction series about a girl, who did not know she had any magical powers, but she was taken under the wing of a warlock, who takes her on a journey and helps her find her powers. I remember, that she fell in love with the guy and it turned out she was the most powerful witch of all times and she had to fight evil. I think she was an orphan, so she was unaware of so many things, including having a family. The books were amazing and I have no clue what the title was or who the author is, so please, please, if anyone thinks this sounds familiar, HELP ME OUT! I've been trying to find this book series for years now, but alas, no luck whatsoever.

Thank you!

its a long shot, but maybe the Mairelon the Magician books?
the heroine is a street urchin hired to search a traveling magician's wagon, he turns out to be a powerful wizard (sort of an alternate Regency England, with magic being commonplace)

Mairelon the Magician
and
The Magician's Ward

Thank you for the long shot, but no, sadly. I've read Mairelon the Magician and it's great, but not the series I'm looking for. The heroine was about 14-15 years old and the setting was very medieval

Another long shot, but maybe The Immortals Quartet by Tamora Pierce? The setting is very medieval, Dane is in her mid to late teens at the beginning, and she does fall in love with the somewhat older mage who finds her. She isn't really the most powerful witch of all time, but she has a very unusual sort of magic and does wind up in the realm of the gods for a while. The first book is Wild Magic.

Possibly Alison Croggon's Pellinor quartet - The gift, The riddle, The crow and The singing.

Or maybe Kate Constable's Chanters of Tremaris trilogy - The singer of all songs, The waterless sea and The tenth power.
