Ok, so way back when I was in High School (about 5 years ago) I used to like reading anthologies as a way to find new authors.
There was this one short story that has stuck with me. For some reason I didn't go find the larger series that it belonged to at the time. I can't for the life of me remember who the auther/tilte was. Or even what anthology I read it in.
I would be forever greatful to whoever can help me find it again.
Right, details;
-It starts with the female protagonist(not sure if she is the main charecter of the series) who is an army vet turned investigator turned bodyguard of her current employer (a very badass vamp who rules) walking into a building to pick up the blind layabout decendent the vamp who had gone off by himself to find his twin sister.
-The protagonist has a demon dog for a partner(or he was the see eye dog for the guy maybe), supplied to her by the family she works for.
-The story is their journey to find the twin sister, and along the way the protagonist realises that the "good for nothing" blind black sheep of the family can actually see through other peoples eyes. (The twins have powers due to the fact that they have a vampiric ancestor) She remembers observing the fact that the guy has a habbit of deciding to work in random possitions of the finacial empire that belongs to the family, after which someone else would often inexplicably be found to be a bad worker for what ever reason and be fired. She relises that the guy is actually the families internal investigator. "Seeing" through the eyes of the guilty party and determining if any claims made against them are true or not.
-I remember the sceane where she realises he can see.
They are sitting in the car, and she is driving. I can't remember how the topic came up but she asks the demon dog what he would do if she were to hurt the guy. The demon leans over from the back seat and breafly clamps his jaw on her arm. As he does he breifly lets go of the glamor making him look like a mundane dog and reveals his true (scary) face. The guy, who is sitting across from her on the passenger seat flinches. she says "you saw that". and my memory from there is a little vague. But he admits to his ability and the fact that his sister can send him "clues" through her own eyes even from so far away. because they are twins.
-He also admits to having "seen" the protagonist before she became the families bodyguard/investigator. Years ago he saw a woman about to get raped, but he was too far away phisically to do anything. The worst was about to hapen when the prtagonist walked in on them, saw what was happening and calmly shot the man without even hesitating before helping the girl to safty.(she was doing a different investigation at the time) and the guy lost track of her after that.
-In the end they get back home and the vamp is surprisingly not unhappy about the two getting together. He calls her by a nick name (I'm hearing Matthews in my head but I could be way off). It was the name of a family who served as the families loyal body guards until one of them fell in love with one of the family and bacame the twins ancesstor.
Quote "Does this mean that I don't have to pay you as much now that you're part of the family?"
"I think being a part of the family would mean you'd have to pay me more, sir." or something close to that.
Lol, and the guy had a mirror above his bed because if he was going to see anything she would need to be able to see herself if you know what I meen.
Any hint would be great, thanks!

I know little about this subgenre, but I'll wager two guesses anyway, by authors I've read an occasional short story by. Could this be anything by Nancy A. Collins? Or even Chelsea Quinn Yarbro?

I feel like this is from the anthology must love hellhounds story is Blind Spot by Meljean Brook. I don't know if its available on its own.
the heroine (Maggie) is an ex-CIA agent butler/bodyguard/troubleshooter type who works for a vampire, she teams up with the vampire's nephew (Blake) to rescue the sister. If I recall he can see through other's eyes, and the seeing eye dog is (per the title of the anthology) a hellhound.
