This one's driving me nuts. I remember reading a novel where a young girl from rural America somewhere finds herself having these out of body experiences where she's moving through time. At one point she ends up on the Titanic, and in another scene that really stuck in my memory she finds herself like ghost in a room with Hitler and his generals. Hitler somehow takes her appearance as a supernatural sign that he's supposed to invade Russia. That's really all I can remember. I read it sometime in the 1980s, as memory serves, but I can't say if that's when it was written. Help me find this thing.

The Titanic bit makes me think of Ghosts I Have Been, not sure if Hitler's in that one though.

Ah, here's maybe a better guess: TimeRiders by Alex Scarrow has both the Titanic and Hitler.

Edit:But it was published 2010. Rats. I guess some ideas just keep coming back around.

Looks like Ghosts I Have Been is the one I was looking for. I don't know where the Hitler scene comes in. Perhaps I'm conflating it with another book. Thanks, Cecrow, that was really bugging me.

Glad I could help! That book is the second volume of a series, maybe Hitler turns up in one of the others.
