Query about an old SF classic

I have never read A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M Miller. I was too young when it was published in 1960 and by the time I would have been interested I wasn't aware of its existence.

Now I want to propose it as a Book Club read for my group. Do you think it is a suitable choice that will engender lots of discussion?

I think, if they are up for it, there is a lot of fodder for discussion in it. Is it humankind's nature to destroy itself? Miller incorporates religion, philosophy, nature, preservation of culture, history, science... a very interesting book.

We have our best discussions when we are divided about a book.
