Where are you in Fantasyland, July 2016?

While I'm not in Fantasyland to start the month, I'll be returning sometime this month but while I'm sojourning in a previous historical era where are you?

I quite enjoyed Sabriel last month so I've decided to stay in the Old Kingdom and started Lireal as the next audio book for my commute.

Still reading Indexing and Rose Daughter.

For my regular reading I'm in the Realms with Twilight's Dawn.

I just finished Tut Reborn.

Finished Rose Daughter and started Sunshine, both by Robin McKinley.

Finished The Giver by Lois Lowry. Also, saw the movie which is a bit more Hollywood than the book.

I'm travelling with the Truthwitch

Finished Indexing and started Indexing: Reflections by Seanan McGuire.

Still working on my Robin McKinley binge read. Finished Sunshine, which I really enjoyed, and started The Hero and the Crown.

Now I'm headed to the UK with Stiletto. So excited! The Rook was my favorite book from last year's reading.

About to launch into Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett.

Finished The Hero and the Crown and about to start the last Robin McKinley in my stack, Deerskin.

I had an ultimately disappointing journey with the Truthwitch and am now following a Geist.

Working on The Bishop's Heir by Katherine Kurtz.

I am rereading the Harry Potter series. I am in the great hall watching the Goblet of Fire with Harry Potter, Herminone Granger and Ron Weasley.

The Geist was not so good as I'd hoped but I've very much enjoyed A study in darkness.

I'm in Panem as the dystopian nation is Catching Fire.

I just spent the weekend in the World Of Two Moons, enjoying a long overdue re-read of Elfquest graphic novels.

Just finished the Inheritance Trilogy.

Just arriving in Arbonne for a reread of an old Guy Gavriel Kay favorite.

I should probably be reading one of the two not-yet-read works of his that are also on my TBR pile, but this was the one that called out to me when I was staring at the shelves. :)

I am in Vancouver having Dreams of shreds and tatters.

I'm heading to the world of the First Law with Before They are Hanged.

Headed to Lancre on the Disc in Carpe Jugulum, it almost sounds like I'm going to be reading about vampires. But vampires wouldn't be stupid enough to attack somewhere that Granny Weatherwax lives would they?

Just finished The Borders of Life by G.A. Kathryns. She announces in a preface that she's inspired by Faulkner; her ambitions exceed her reach. The small-town part is good in a minor Southern-Gothic way; the "other side" part, not so much so. And it ends abruptly and obscurely, as though she ran out of steam & just wanted to get out.

Just finishing Snape: A Definitive Reading by Lorrie Kim. Not a fantasy, itself, but an analysis of the J. R. Rowling character through all of the Harry Potter series. Kim's reading is insightful as she picks up on patterns of behavior in all of the characters which illuminate Snape's actions and motivations. When I finish with Kim's book, I'm going to have to go back and reread Rowling's entire series!

I'm on Planetos, simultaneously re-reading A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons.

I'm in c19th New York, painting The portrait of Mrs Charbuque.

I'm in Romania, seeking vampires with Harry Keough in the Necroscope series. Damn this is a great series! On volume 4 now and volume 5 is on deck.

Currently popping between various Londons in A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab.

I'm now in Caeli-Amur, looking at The stars askew.

I finished Guards! Guards! just as July ended. What a hoot! I'll have to pay another visit to the Discworld soon.
