I read this book about 4 years ago but I'm not sure if it came the library or a thrift store. 90s or 2000s. At first I thought it was a Diana Palmer book but it wasn't. Or a Harlequin book but I couldn't find it. I don't think it was more than 200 pages.
Heroine is kidnapped. Her father calls Hero to rescue her. Hero is/was military of some kind.
Hero sits is jungle/wooded area for a couple days watching the house. He watches the guards to know their pattern and watches her sunbathing thinks she looks more like pampered guest than a victim.
On the night he finally goes in to get her, is the same night she finally is going to escape. She had been collecting food/drinks into a backpack. They struggle. He tells her who he is and she doesn't know to trust him.
She is extremely afraid of the dark. (I think she got accidently locked in a closet when she was younger)
She grabs the back of his pants to hold on. He knocks her down. She explains she's afraid of the dark. He lets her hold on.
They sleep beside each other on the ground and when he wakes she is on top of him sleeping. He can't understand how she got close without him knowing. This happens more than once.
She is a virgin and wants to have sex with him so if they catch her and rape her. They do. I think in some kind of shack or something where they are hiding.
She doesn't complain and he wonders why. Because he thought she was pampered. I think he ends up carrying her backpack because it was so heavy.
I think she ends up pregnant.

it sounds like Midnight Rainbow by Linda Howard. Its been a million years since I've read it, so I'm fuzzy on the details, but the hero has to rescue what he thinks is a spoiled debutante from the Costa Rican jungle, where she's being kept at a villa by the bad guy.
