I'm ignoring this thread, as presumably I've been ignoring 100+ previous threads in this sequence. When I go to the thread, it shows the red X and the "stop ignoring" text.
But today Part 173 showed up in Talk anyway. When I go to the thread, it isn't ignored; I have the option to "ignore topic" and the X is gray.
Ignored threads should stay ignored even when they're continued.

The inverted case seems to work correctly: that is, I have starred threads and the continuation is starred, without my having starred the continuation expressly. I don't have as many ignored threads as starred, but I would want all continuations to retain my preferences, whether ignored or starred.

Since I don't ignore many threads on LT, I'm not certain whether this is actually a bug (i.e. that this behavior is new/unexpected and wrong), or whether it's a matter of us needing to change how things have worked for a while. Can those of you who've seen this behavior weigh in on whether continuations of ignored topics have or have not been automatically ignored in the past?

It's definitely new. As _Zoe_ said, I ignored that very same thread many iterations ago, and up until this one the ignoring has always rolled over.

One of the sequences that I ignore started a new thread about 12 hours after the thread in question, and it was ignored correctly. So I think the problem is specific to this one thread.

>6 norabelle414: Interesting. Thanks for that info. I wonder if there's some invisible threshold beyond which continuations stop being auto-ignored. I'll do some testing, but this is likely to take a while for me to narrow down, considering it can take a while for continuations to happen.

Thanks for the data point; if it's just one thread, it may not be worth digging too deeply. I just had a peek and none of my other ignored threads have rolled over for a few weeks, so I can't provide data there either way.

I can verify that it happened to me too on the same thread. Given that there's definitely a problem and researching it is difficult, can't you have the developers look at it right away? I'm not sure what more info you could gather on the problem by looking at it further anyway?

For me, it shows up on the group page, but not under the Talk tab. Weird.

When that thread was continued there were several hours before anyone posted in it. So it was a topic with zero posts which is unusual. Don't know if that affects anything ...

I had the same thing happen with that same thread. I had ignored it, and the new continuation popped up in my Groups and Posts lists.
>11 hailelib: How can I thread be continued without any posts? That in itself seems like a clue to the problem, as normally someone has to actively click the "Continue This Thread" button and then make a first post in the new thread.

Interesting question: Has any other thread been continued more than, say, 150 times other than that thread? I think even the spam killing thread is only up to 50 something.

Crap, now I'm getting it in my "Groups and Posts" as well. (See also, >10 AnnaClaire:.)

Noticed yesterday that it apparently came unstarred at the same time it became unignored.
