I suspect this will sell out fairly quick.

Awesome, can't wait to get. As for selling out quickly, that's what I thought about "Neverwhere", but it's still available.

"The Ocean.." is a good novel, and I enjoyed it when I read it; however, Neil Gaiman has signed SO many books already for many various presses!
There are many signed first editions of this novel (in like new condition) that are currently offered for sale in various places on the Internet for half price of what EP asks. I am going to think about purchasing this book from Easton Press some more before making a buying decision.

Is anyone surprised about the choice of title? I thought maybe Anasi Boys next. "The Ocean...", is a fairly recent title and the three others that have been released by EP have been older ones. I don't mind though.

What were the three other Gaiman novels? I have Neverwhere and Stardust. So I probably missed a third title somewhere.

>3 Eastonorfolio: I don't see it on the website and I don't recall seeing it recently.
>7 supercell: Yep, I missed it as well and haven't seen a good deal second-hand.
>8 supercell: Well, I suppose I would be just fine with them continuing with Good Omens next :)

I swear it was there a week ago. It probably just sold out and that's why "Ocean at the end...", is now out? I know "Neverwhere" was there on their last catalog mailing.
11Eastonorfolio
I'm now mulling it over whether or not to buy it. It's only 192 pages and it costs $99.00. That's over 51 cents per page. I know it's signed, but it's not a first edition and Gaiman has signed many things. It's a hard decision.
12astropi
I have no doubt that this will double in value or more after it goes OOP. That's how it works, resellers purchase LOTS of copies of Gaiman's work because it's popular. So if you're considering this, I would encourage you to purchase it before it sells out and becomes very expensive. Yes, EP could in principle reprint it, but I don't believe they have ever reprinted any of Gaiman's signed books -quite possibly he doesn't want to do another signing.

>Thanks astropi, very nice tactics to put somebody from EP on this site to persuade people to buy books from EP before they sell out. Wow, amazing. Are any of you actually seriously considering buying this overpriced book from EP?
17JuliusC
They're signed editions are one of their better offerings. Text are always crisp and clear. Will have to order this when I take a trip in the states next month as it doesn't look like they ship outside the US.

HugoDumas is a psychologist. What's the word for someone like unclesamme? Let me cite his aggressive and unnecessarily confrontational and demeaning statement:
14: ">Thanks astropi, very nice tactics to put somebody from EP on this site to persuade people to buy books from EP before they sell out. Wow, amazing. Are any of you actually seriously considering buying this overpriced book from EP?"
Ignoring said individual, I think Stardust sold out in about two weeks or so.

>14 unclesamme: I think you're wrong. I've been collecting EP since I was a teenager (Thanks Mom and Dad!), and I have always found them to be wonderful, with few exceptions. I don't work for EP, and I'm sure astropi doesn't either. There are many on this site who love them. Yes, they're not inexpensive, but you have a choice--that's the price, buy it or not buy it. Just don't complain about it or regret your decision.
I also love FS books, especially their Natural History and botanical books, and am lusting after Plants of the Americas. That will need to wait until I pay off EP Audubon (if I live that long:)).

>astropi I'm glad that you know HugoDumas is a psychologist. I hope that you had many sessions with him about how not to tell people what to do and what to think, when they give you their opinion. I know even if EP prints unreadable book you will still find an excuse why they did it and ask people in this forum to buy it asap, since it's one in a life time opportunity, right? astropi, I always wanted to ask you what kind of position you have with EP. It can't be janitor position, as I originally suspected on the basis of your arguments, since you're to invested in providing marketing for them. You have to be answering the phone for them, eh?

>21 unclesamme:
I do not believe that astropi works for EP. Just because somebody expresses enthusiasm or an opinion about how purchasing a book is a good/bad business decision, to me this does not look like a clue that he/she works for the company.
I am inclined not to purchase this particular book, but, if I do, I will not blame astropi for that.
I suggest that we focus on the topic in the original post.

>Eastoner, Just really dislike astropi's disrespectful posts that started little war between us. He thinks he can be rude and then start blaming me for that. He needs to learn his lesson and stop pushing his opinion in a disrespectful manner. Look how he complaints about me, what a wus. astropi started something, which he is totally unable to finish. It seems we have his henchman mortalalliance here too. I don't care if I will be kicked out of this site. EP quality sucks, OOOPS, I just made astropi and mortalalliance very angry again. My job is done.

astorpi, unclesameme and mortalalliance. I agreed, EP's quality is pretty bad but we can discuss it in a respectful manner and have respect for one other. Being new to this forum I think we should respect each other when discussing EP or other publisher. Be nice to each other or this forum will become just like YouTube where everybody fight all the time. mortalalliance, don't call people trolls and unclesamme stop coming after astropi. astropi have respect for other people's opinion in here. Thank you guys.
28astropi
27: While I don't agree that EP's quality is "pretty bad", I most certainly do agree that anyone should be allowed to constructively criticize EP and yes, some of their works are certainly better than others. That said, I would argue that pretty much everyone on this thread is respectful of each other, except for unclesamme. Since you're new to this forum, you are not aware of the things unclesamme has said beforehand (a previous thread was deleted by the moderator).

>28 astropi: and I hope whatever those things were, nobody will say them again. I came here to discuss EP books and criticize them as well when needed. It seems to me you guys need to develop ground rules in this forum. No insulting each other and/or disrespecting each others opinion. In addition, if somebody dislikes or likes something from EP, this person shouldn't be attacked. I expected more from people who read and collect books and hopefully my little criticism here will go a long way. Thank you guys. The countdown begins now: 5, 4, 3, 2,1. Let's start discussing and concentrating only on books not each other. After all I come here to relax and share my passion for EP books.

>30 brooksknight: I am in total agreement with you on this point. I am not swayed either way on my decisions when purchasing EP books by any of the members of LT. I buy EP books because I want to and love reading and collecting beautiful leather bound books. Yes, I have had my share of EP books that were returned due to quality issues, but that is no reason to bash EP and stop buying their products. The only thing your doing unclesamme is being negative by making other members of this group feel like were wasting our money and time, so please keep your negative thoughts and opinions to yourself.

I received my copy yesterday and while it is a shorter novel it looks nice. I haven't had a chance to flip through it yet though. One thing I want to note is that this signed edition costs only $99.00 and didn't have the price increase that most new signed editions have tacked on. I have to believe that was probably more Neil's decision than EPs as I'm sure EP would have loved to make more money on this title if at all possible.
35chixor
I have American Gods, Stardust and Neverwhere all signed by Neil Gaiman. Can't wait to add The Ocean :D
36Eastonorfolio
I passed on buying this edition from Easton Press, but bought another version that I finished in two short sessions during the weekend. It's a great story and I highly recommend it, but it's really short to be paying $99 for it for maybe 2 hrs of reading. If Easton Press published another signed edition by Gaiman, (perhaps Anasi Boys) that book is a lot longer, and worth my money.
