I've hit the ground running and am off to a great start. I'm read 4 books already this year, so its time to start filling in the categories.

fantasy: On the Edges of Elfland, and The Green Ember
film: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Beasts Cinematic Guide
historical fiction: The Messenger

It looks like you have a bunch of fun categories this year. I never got to see Fantastic Beasts in the theater. I guess I'll now have to wait until it comes out on DVD. Have a wonderful year!

Fantastic Beasts was quite enjoyable, if darker than I expected for a first movie. I liked Newt and Tina the best.

I finished off two graphic novels at work in the past two days.

The Dresden Files: Welcome to the Jungle is a standalone introduction to the Dresden world, wherein Harry must solve a murder case in a zoo before he becomes the next victim.

Delilah Dirk and the King's Shilling is the second volume in the YA series, and was fun to read.

Finished my re-read of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in anticipation of my class starting up next week. I'll be re-reading the entire series over the next 12 weeks. That gives me my first book in my Mythgard category.

Ooh, rereading Harry Potter for a class would be fun! Hope the class goes well.

Rereading Harry Potter will be fun, I've not read the whole series in several years. I'm taking a graduate level course which looks at many of the sources and genres that inspired Rowling.

I've been hearing so much about Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology. Might have to bite the bullet and check it out!

I really enjoyed it. I read the Eddas last year as part of my course work, so seeing Gaiman's take on some of the myths was really fun. They style was very readable prose, I read the whole thing in 2 work shifts. I would highly recommend it.

I too have Gaiman's book on my to-read list, looking forward to seeing what he does with our old gods... :)

I've really fallen behind on updating the thread, so sorry about that. I've read over 70 books for the year, and I have been keeping the individual categories up to date. Will try to be better at posting to the thread.

I've just re-arranged several categories to try and get a few closer to completion for the year. Still going to fall pretty short, but I got the biggest categories finished off. I wasn't expecting to read as many urban fantasy/magic series as I did.
