The old thread was getting long. For those of you who need a refresher on the rules, it's simple. I'll make a prediction about something "the next person" does, thinks, says, etc. You (as "the next person") will respond, then you'll make your own prediction about the next person after you. So, for example, the last post on the old thread was:

The next person will start a new thread for this topic because this one is getting very full.

I just did that! So, the next person . . .

Finished some sort of project today.

(Now you do one!)

405Kerian
Jan 1, 2008, 3:26 pm

The next person's new years plans cut back on their sleep.

what kind of question? The next person is confused about where this thread is going

414cheri0627
Jan 1, 2008, 7:45 pm

I have absolutely no clue where this thread is going, but that's okay. The next person is sad because they have to go back to work tomorrow, so won't have time to finish the book they're reading.

415foggidawn
Jan 1, 2008, 9:09 pm

Does the thread have to go anywhere? I do have to go back to work tomorrow, but only for half a day. I've started the LotR reread that I've been promising myself, so it's not like I'm reading something I can't put down, anyway.

The next person has never read the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The next person is looking forward to a book release in the next month or two.

420foggidawn
Edited: Jan 1, 2008, 10:34 pm

Hmmm . . . Inside Prince Caspian by Devin Brown was theoretically released today, but I think it's not actually available yet, as Amazon is still saying it won't ship for a few weeks. (Dr. Brown, apart from being quite a good writer, was one of my college professors, so I keep an eye out for his books when they come out.)

The next person is going to come join me in the chatroom for a while. (Hint, hint!)

Edited for typos

421Kerian

the next person made were they were in between books at the end of last year.

423Kerian
Jan 2, 2008, 2:49 am

Sadly, no. I usually do! I was about twenty pages short of finishing one book (I'll count as a 2007 read) and twenty-four pages into another (which I'll count as a 2008 read).

The next person wishes they didn't stay up so late the night of January 1st/2nd after having most likely stayed up late the night before.

The next person had coffee today.

428littlegeek
Jan 2, 2008, 2:13 pm

I have coffee every day, even when I have a UTI and shouldn't drink it.

(btw, I went to the doctor this morning to get some nice antibiotics. Cranberry juice just wasn't cutting it.)

The next person has never had a UTI.

429Kerian
Jan 2, 2008, 2:15 pm

I'm not even sure what it means.

The next person will tell me what it means unless they want to post a random thought about the book they're reading.

430littlegeek
Jan 2, 2008, 2:20 pm

UTI=Urinary tract infection and it's no fun at all.

Random thought: Lily Dale is insufferable!

The next person knows who Lily Dale is.

431cheri0627
Edited: Jan 2, 2008, 2:27 pm

Editing, because I'm not quick enough when the touchstones aren't playing nicely...

I'm leaving the rest of my message because I like it.

Maybe I want to do both...is that allowed? *wink*

UTI is urinary tract infection. *shudder*

I just picked back up The Florabama Ladies' Auxiliary and Sewing Circle that I put down to read the books from my SantaThing. I'm quite entranced by the characters thus far (I'm only a few chapters in) and I hope they stay entertaining.

(Bah! touchstones don't work for that one unless I use "and" in the title name, but the touchstone comes up using the & in the title....crazy!)

I have no clue who Lily Dale is.

The next person gets very aggravated when touchstones don't play nicely.

432Kerian
Edited: Jan 2, 2008, 2:29 pm

I don't know who Lily Dale is.

Yep, I was struggling with touchstones last night on a thread I created right after I joined the fifty book challenge.

437littlegeek
Jan 2, 2008, 3:47 pm

Hey, I actually had to get a little work done! ;-)

Lily Dale is the heroine of The Small House at Allington. SPOILERS - She gets jilted so her guy can marry an earl's daughter, and she spends the rest of the book still worshipping this jerk, saying she will love him forever, and will let no one say a word against him in her earshot. She not only martyrs herself to someone she only knew for a few weeks, but lords it over her whole family, expecting them to kowtow to her insanity forever. Which they do.

The book is great, she's just insufferable.

The next person also loves Victorian novels.

438foggidawn

The next person catalogs all of the books they read, even if they don't own them.

442suge
Jan 2, 2008, 4:43 pm

GASP! Never! The stuff I have catalogued is what I own.

The next person doesn't approve of cd's and dvd's on lt libraries. (tough.)

457Kerian

458jugglingpaynes

467cheri0627
Jan 3, 2008, 10:54 pm

I got it for Christmas from my uncle (HD DVD no less!) but I haven't watched it yet. I think I'm staying home from work again tomorrow (still running a fever) so I may watch it then.

The next person's favorite Harry Potter character is Snape.

468foggidawn
Jan 3, 2008, 10:56 pm

How did you know it would be me? (Well, one of my favorite characters -- Dumbledore is also a favorite just not, ahem, for the same reasons.)

The next person owns all of the Harry Potter books, but none of the movies.

469jugglingpaynes
Edited: Jan 3, 2008, 10:57 pm

Yes, I did. Very disappointed in the lack of certain characters...
(foggi beat me! I have the books and one of the movies)

The next person never put any up.

479Kerian
Jan 4, 2008, 11:44 am

Not me, but my family did. I didn't take them down, either. I was at work both times so I completely missed it.

The next person woke up to an alarm this morning.

480foggidawn
Jan 4, 2008, 12:25 pm

Yes. Wretched thing.

The next person has already finished reading the first four chapters of Goblet of Fire and is ready for our discussion thread!

481Kerian
Jan 4, 2008, 12:59 pm

One chapter a day. It was a new years resolution of mine to participate.

not really.

the next person has just come back from a holiday

483cheri0627
Jan 4, 2008, 1:03 pm

Home from work sick, so the only reason I'm happy it's Friday (and that I'm home) is that I'll be able to watch the World Junior Hockey semi finals.

The next person is secretly a sports fan.

484foggidawn
Edited: Jan 4, 2008, 1:04 pm

Edit: Wow, way too slow!

TGIF! I'm off work tomorrow, so can get my hair cut and do some work around the house.

I don't really care about sports -- and that's no secret!

The next person's least-favorite chore is doing the dishes.

485Kerian
Jan 4, 2008, 1:06 pm

I love doing the dishes, but my hands are allergic to the dishwashing soap, and do I wear gloves when I wash the dishes? No. I should take better care of them! The winter isn't being kind to my skin, either.

The next person is reading a book by an author that is new to them.

486cheri0627
Edited: Jan 4, 2008, 1:08 pm

Well, it's the second book I've read by this author, but since I just got the first book from my SantaThing, I'd say it's a new author.

The next person just had a chocolate.

487Kerian
Jan 4, 2008, 1:10 pm

On an LT thread. Wish I could have really! No, I still need breakfast.

492shanfan
Jan 4, 2008, 1:25 pm

heck yeah.
the next person has vacationed more than K.

493cheri0627
Jan 4, 2008, 3:08 pm

It sounds like Kerian hasn't vacationed much, so I'd say I probably have. 3 vacations last year: FIRST Robotics Championship event in Atlanta, GA (help mentor a high school team so it wasn 't much of a vacation), 5th anniversary trip to Stratford, ON, and Denver, CO for Thanksgiving/niece's 2nd birthday. Maybe the trip to my in-laws cottage counts too, as we ignored the cottage and went to many (MANY!) local wineries.

The next person drinks local wines.

494Kerian
Jan 4, 2008, 3:14 pm

Nope, but I listen to local whines. (My kid sister is twelve and does this all the time.)

The next person is at work.

495cheri0627
Jan 4, 2008, 3:25 pm

I should be at work, but I'm home sick. I actually should log into work and do some so I don't have to take today as a sick day (plus I promised I'd do some usage tracking stuff. Sigh.)

The next person works from home.

496megkrahl

The next person had a very long, tiring day.

499cheri0627
Jan 4, 2008, 11:57 pm

I didn't do much of anything all day. I stayed home from work sick. I slept. I watched some TV. I played on LibraryThing. I'm exhausted, and think I will go back to bed soon.

The next person owns a video game system.

The next person has woken up laughing, crying, or screaming from a dream.

Random question: When you were all kids, did you have dreams that would be include going to your parent's room? I'm just wondering how common this is...since I used to get those dreams.

511shanfan
Jan 5, 2008, 5:50 am

I have woken up crying but thats it. I didnt have dreams that would make me go to my parents, but I could always tell when my light was turned off or my doors were closed and I hated it when those things happened. (I was chlostrophbic and scared of the dark)

the next person hates tea, in any way shap or form.

Nope. People with fused spines aren't as flexible as the rest of you.

Yep! People argue with me about things I remember, especially one of my sisters. I think the reason I can remember things so well is she forgets things after only a week. ;)

The next person likes to draw.

Shanfan, sweetie, if you are going to post in this group you REALLY need to read the books. The "Slugclub" is from book 6, and Polly, I'd have to say that dealing with slug would be asking too much for me to be in that club.

No, I never had a sega. And yes, I am right handed. The next person currently owns at least one type of gaming system, however.

edited for a late entry.

The next person read at least forty books last year.

541catbastet
Jan 6, 2008, 2:46 pm

I'm left-handed too!
I just counted them up, and I read at least 64 books. There might be more I forgot.

The next person is also left handed.

The next person knows what movie my profile picture is from without any help. (MrsGrinch you can't answer)

547cheri0627
Jan 6, 2008, 10:59 pm

Yep, I am not double jointed. *shudder* I had a friend in high school who was, and it would gross me out.

The next person is grossed out by the sight of blood.

548foggidawn
Edited: Jan 6, 2008, 11:11 pm

I think the rose is from Phantom of the Opera, but am not sure.

I'm not grossed out by a little blood (somebody's skinned knee, for example), but dislike large amounts of it in gory movies (so I usually don't watch them.)

The next person doesn't know enough of Aladdin to participate on that thread.

Yes foggi it is Phantom.

I am participating to the best of my ability, I know quite a lot of that movie.

The next person thinks they could participate on another whole-movie-quote thread if they chose the movie.

551Kerian
Jan 7, 2008, 1:57 am

Quite possibly, though it's true I really cut down on watching movies during the fall and still haven't been watching that many.

The next person has watched the one of The Lord of the Rings movies at least three times.

552foggidawn
Jan 7, 2008, 10:42 am

I've probably watched all of them at least three times. Right now I'm rereading the books, because I don't want to forget what's in the books in favor of what's in the movies.

The next person owns more than two house plants.

553Kerian
Jan 7, 2008, 11:28 am

One on my bedroom wall, one beside my bed, one in my cell phone, the watch I normally wear, and the watch I got for Christmas. Otherwise, there's one in the livingroom, one above the fridge in the kitchen, and the one on the microwave.

The next person doesn't wear a watch.

557foggidawn
Edited: Jan 7, 2008, 1:48 pm

If you count my watch and the one on my microwave, yes. Too slow! I usually wear a watch, but carry it around in my pocket right now because the band is broken.

The next person loves swimming.

Edited: Jan 7, 2008, 1:02 pm

I have three clocks on my desk at work but two are actually digital timers...

(And since I'm just now catching up with this thread I HAVE to mention that not only do I love watching the Tournament of Roses Parade on TV, this year I got to see it live - WOOHOO!! And what's the deal with the scary popcorn guy??? EEEK!!! And am I allowed to put an official ban on "The next person is going to bed/should be in bed/wants to be sleeping" because it's been used WAY too many times!)

The next person thinks this thread is too massive and that we should start a "Next Person Game Part 3" thread.....

559Kerian
Jan 7, 2008, 8:05 pm

I guess so. Why not.

The 'Next Person Game, Part III' thread is here.
