Here's one that has been stumping me for years:
In the mid-1980s I read a humorous fantasy book with a lot of the stock characters (princesses, kings, queens, dragons, knights) getting into crazy situations. The closest thing I've seen to a similar cover and title is Her Majesty's Wizard but that's not it. What made this book very unusual is that it was a musical -- at key moments, the characters would break out into song. In the back of the book was musical notation for the songs, so you could sing along (or at least plunk out the tune on the piano). The only bit I remember clearly is that at some point the villain (a real mustache-twister) sings "And the thing of it is that I am evil ..."
Does this ring a bell with anyone?
