11PM Cones.

Jose officially primed for loop-de-loop #2 off Cape Cod

Maria increasingly determined to screw over most of the islands that didn't get it last time (and some that did, like the Virgin Islands), as a strengthening major hurricane Cat3+. So much for the aid staging in places like Guadeloupe.

Looks like we'll soon need a Maria thread, bigly...
USVI residents were offered a couple free ferries to evacuate to Puerto Rico, also on watch for Maria. Those who can afford it plan to move on to the mainland. With defoliation, debris, and little shelter St John is even more vulnerable to Maria than it was to Irma. http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-virgin-islands-evacuation-20170917-story.htm...
Meanwhile, a family-owned resort on St Thomas, while it weathered Irma relatively well, is sheltering and feeding its staff, many of whom have lost everything. Bolongo Bay will take a big hit if staff and patrons move on. http://www.bolongobay.com/hurricane-irma-update-us-virgin-island-resort-weathers...

Whoops. This was supposed to be the Jose/Maria thread. I wrote "Irma" in a moment of vacuity.
