I should have posted this earlier, but the winner of this year's Booker Prize will be announced at approximately 9:40 pm BST this evening, which is 4:40 pm EST in the United States. Who do you think will win, and who should win?
I've only read two of the shortlisted novels so far, Autumn by Ali Smith, and Exit West by Mohsin Hamid. I may be able to finish Lincoln in the Bardo in advance of the prize announcement as well. The Smith and the Saunders appear to be the front runners, and I think that Autumn will come out on top.

In the order of my preference, I’ve read Autumn, Lincoln in the Bardo, Exit West and Elmet.
I just purchased Autumn for a reread. I loved it, but wouldn’t be sad if Lincoln in the Bardo won instead.
I liked Exit West, but thought that Hamid pulled his punches at the end, and though I thought Elmet was flawed from a narrative standpoint, the writing on the sentence level was terrific and I look forward to reading more from her.
The Auster and the Fridlund didn’t interest me enough to commit to them.
And I’m still mourning the loss of The Underground Railroad from the shortlist.
