Looks like the only common text still unstranslatable is the Poweredit text and te text explaning green data in the catalogue. Great work so far, tim, abby and everyone translating!

Well, so far for the site in Italian there are only two people: moloch and I. We are trying to do our best, but I have no idea when it will be finished.

True, we need more for many languages. Abby and I are going to start by contacting non-English bloggers who've covered LT before.

Do you guys have any ideas? We tend not to try too hard for press. It rarely pans out and, frankly, tends not to move the dial much anyway.

Making the widgets multi-lingual will help. I need to get the works system multi-lingual first, so it's "Lo Hobbit" :)

Actually, If it could be set so the original language is used whenever possible, that would be great. It's annoying as hell seing some, but all my french comic books and novels listed under their English translation titles...

As it was mentioned earlier, I think it would be a good idea to provide room for the original title at the work page, whatever the language of the books, that is.

Having the original title would come in handy for i.a. combining purposes, too.

Now that I think about it, calculating the original title doesn't take any additional data. You just take books whose primary language matches the original language. Since those books should be listed on those pages already, this is as much a presentation issue as anything. Right? For instance, under "Other copies and editions of this title", you could have a subtle difference in background color between your language / original language / other language.

Within the top 50 there are four that would be candidates for a different original title, viz., Cien años de soledad, Преступление и наказание, Οδύσσεια, and L'Etranger, and originals seem to all be here.

Which would require every (or most) books to have the original language. If you import books from Amazon, you don't have that info unless you edit your books to add it manually (I had to do it with all of my books, since 80% of them came from Amazon.de/co.uk/com). Only if a substantial no. of books have that info it could work...

And for touchstones - I was trying for French titles in a post, and two of them refused to work unless in English.

I think the issue is that either a) only the work title works for linking purposes or b) Only a limited amount of titles will work.
