I'm looking for a book that I read as a child, but I can't remember the name.

Okay. I remember that the characters in the book had lives WITHIN book. They moved and stuff from page to page, but whenever someone opened the book, they had to run back to where they were supposed to be. I remember that whenever the book was opened, there was light and stuff.

And there was a princess in the book who was strolling around the book when she came upon a forest and went in. She got lost, and then someone opened the book and she wasn't able to return. I'm not sure what happened next, but I think the king and others sent search parties.

I also remember that there were people outside the book, and that a Grandma was telling her kids about it (maybe?). There was also a part where someone (I think a young boy) burnt the book. Not totally, but singed the edges or something.

I also remember that someone dies, but it's all very abstract because it is in your mind and stuff. I dunno.

And lastly, I remember something about the title. I remember that I couldn't make sense out of it as a kid, because it didn't make grammatical sense, or something like that.

The title started with 'The', and then some adjectives like 'magnificent' and 'great'.

PLEASE HELP!
