Humour in romance novel--can you recommend any?

My favourites are Sandra Hill and her viking series and Katie MacAlister with her Aisling Grey Guardian 4 book series. Excellent banter and laugh out loud funny scenes.

Sprig Muslin by Georgette Heyer and most of the books by Barbara Metzger for historical fiction. There is at least one by Susan Elizabeth Phillips that you should enjoy (check out the plots) and Jennifer Crusie's Bet Me is good.

Two way street is funny and very romantic

I certainly wouldn't call them romance novels, but the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich has a lot of romantic tension in them. Stephanie Plum narrates them and her "voice" is quite fun.

You might try british author Wendy Holden. I have Farm Fatale which was fun but she has written many others and both romance and humor figure prominently in the tags on her books.

I enjoy Lynsay Sands and her Argeneau Vampires series. They're always funny. And enjoyable. Katie MacAlister is one of my favorite authors, btw.

I second xorscape on Georgette Heyer. I haven't read them for years, but remember laughing my way through the Barsetshire series by Angela Thirkell.

I found another humorous romance writer: Erin McCarthy. I read A Date with the Other Side and Heiress for Hire and enjoyed them both. These are a series.

I third the Katie MacAlister. She's got funny romance written in contemporary real world, contemporary vampire/demon world, and three very amusing regency (non-paranormal) books. She's on my "buy everything this writer writes" list.

MaryJanice Davidson's Queen Betsy vampire series is very funny, as well. And you might have a look at Julie Kenner's Aphrodite series. That's a superhero trilogy. Kind of cartoony.

I like Jennifer Crusie, as well, for light comedy. Not all her books are laugh out loud, but they're light and chuckle-worthy. My favorite is Bet Me. This reminds me of a lot of those screwball comedies where the couple is always at odds due to a miscommunication. 1st and 2nd runners up are Welcome to Temptation and Faking It - they feature a pair of sisters and a brother who were raised by a con man. Secondary characters are (in Temptation) a loony small town and (in Faking It) an off-beat family who owns an art gallery.

Marian Keyes, an Irish chick-lit writer. Best of all is Rachel's Holiday which is about the unlikely topic of a drug addict heroine in rehab - and yes, romance!

I think chick lit is usually funny. I read Undomestic Goddess and Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella in 2008, both are hilarious contemporary romances.

Sammy's Hill by Kristin Gore, Running In Heels by Anna Maxted, and Coffee And Kung Fu by Karen Brichoux were rereads, because I just loved them so much. They made me laugh alot. Well, Brichoux has a bit drier sort of humor, but I like it.

The Queen Betsy series by Davidson is also laugh out loud funny. If you like paranormal romance (especially with unusual vampires), you'll surely enjoy them.

I'm glad I found this thread now, it reminds me we are already 5 month into the year and I haven't read any fluffy romantic comedies yet. It's time to pick one off the shelves and put the usual big goofy smile on my face again.:)

The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank has been one of my favorites so far. Great light comedy/romance. I also picked up The Wonder Spot, also by Bank, but I haven't read it yet.

Not sure what you are looking for but Almost Like Being in Love was hilarious in m/m romance.

I think Pug Hill is a pretty funny romance novel...no really steamy scenes, though if that's what you're looking for, but a lot of laugh out loud moments.

I'd also suggest reading the Bigtime Series by Jennifer Estep. Karma Girl is the first in that series (3 in the series so far). It has a funky, semi-cheesy superhero vibe to it.

Susan Isaacs comes to mind.

Two by Frances Murray, The Burning Lamp and The Heroine's Sister, particularly the second title.
