What is your initial provisional rating? Why?

I'm going to start with a 3.5. I really liked the first part and found it very interesting. Can't wait to read more.

I'll start with a 3. I wasn't completely riveted by the theme of the story, but I do like the characters.

I'm starting with 3. all the theological discussion was a bit tough and slow. The action scenes and the characters were interesting.

I'll join Eadie on 3.5. I liked the opening, and I want to see if Pierce can reconcile with his poor father before it's too late.

I'm at 3. I agree that the characters are good and the action is what we can expect from James Rollins.

I think I will go in at 3.5 as it did a good job of setting the scene for the book. Very interested to see how it develops.
