When I lived in England, I read this book. It was pretty strange but I only remember bits and pieces. It seemed that these two children were either betrothed or married at a young age, strange adventures happened, and like I said in the subject, at the end they are at the Kentucky Derby, the woman is wearing a polka dot dress and "My Old Kentucky Home" is being played and they find each other again... not a romance story, more young adult. Anything sound familiar? (Read in late 70's early 80's).
