Culture tag has somehow become a mess of a number of completely unrelated tags
https://www.librarything.com/tag/culture
Several of us proposed a host of separations, all of which passed over a month ago. Proposals are no longer listed on tag page, which I assume means it's closed, but none of the unrelated tags were separated. Not a single one.

perhaps the issue is related with another bug report https://www.librarything.com/topic/298266 Those blank tags also appear as an alias of culture tag

Again, the majority of separation proposals have apparently been moved to closed, but the tags have not been separated. In particular, could someone separate that blank tag because I suspect it is the culprit for unrelated tags somehow ending up combined with culture tag. Brazilian literature, which has been separated not long ago has again ended up combined, even though it has never been approved by voting.

This tag seems an endless mess with new unrelated tags mysteriously combined. The issue seems connected to the equally mysterious blank tag, which was reported as a separate bug here https://www.librarything.com/topic/298266

Bump. Please separate the tags that passed the vote. People are starting to propose the same separations again

Confirmed. To clarify, rejecting bad combination proposals is working, but proposed separations of bad tags that meet the threshold are not being separated.

Example: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1r8phpwm3a3wn67/Screenshot%202019-01-15%2011.09.03.jpg...

In that screenshot, you can see that there's a combination proposed of "Culture" and "Where's Waldo?" tags, along with a proposed separation of "Culture" and ""trigonometry--textbooks". Both thresholds have been met.

Now, looking at tag aliases for Culture: https://www.librarything.com/tag/detail/culture#tagaliases, you can see that Where's Waldo? didn't succeed, but trigonometry--textbooks is still listed.

There was a whole list of tags like the "trigonometry--textbooks" to be separated, but somehow they vanished (after meeting the treshold?). I did put this one back on as an example.

ETA: Look at the list you get if you click "propose tag separation".

>4 lorannen: Considering the Where's Waldo is still being voted on and not had the batch run to process it, you really can't judge that yet.

The trigonometry--textbooks should have an older separation request that DID pass, but it's still there.

I meant around a hundred separations that have been voted on and cleared from the list already, presumably because they were moved to closed. Trigonometry-textbooks is among those separations that should have been done already. I spent half an hour to proposing those separations and making sure to include all non-related tags, as well as the blank tag, which seems the source of the problems. If the voted on and cleared separations can finally actually be separated, there should be only a few left, I think only a few versions of Brazil lit, which somehow again ended up combined with culture while we were waiting for the proposed separations to be enacted

Bumpity bump.

Is there a way to manually separate these since they were not separated automatically after being voted on and closed? I presume there's some kind of log with the list of tags that were voted to be separated.

xaagmabag has just proposed all of these separations again. I'd like to ask if it can be made sure they actually get separated this time when the vote closes. Thanks

Bump. The (again) proposed separations have been closed, but the tags were not separated yet again

I think this is all fixed now. The blank tag (which was causing the mess) has been separated from all of the good tags like "culture", etc. so separations and combinations should work fine.

>12 SandraArdnas: There is a dropdown above the text field (when replying) to change the status of a bug or close it.

But if you do that, the staff probably won't ever mark it fixed, so you won't get credit for reporting a bug that was fixed (it only takes one to get your Exterminator badge). You should just leave it open until a staff member marks it fixed.

Ah, now I see it above 'post message'. I was trying in the right corner where it indicates the status of bug report. But I'll leave as advised to get the bug exterminator. The golden bug is cute

You need 25 fixed bugs to get the gold exterminator bug. Bronze (1) and Silver (10) are just normal badges. But you have to start somewhere.
