Juvenile SciFi Book Group Visits Multiple Worlds

All I can remember is a group visiting various planets/places and coming across a society where everything is the same. There are children playing with a ball and one boy loses his ball. He gets in trouble and the group sees him in a room where every time he bounces the ball he is hurt/pain for not being the same.

Sounds like a scene from A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.
