From the list?

Is it a long-haul flight? I read The Master and Margurita between Kuala Lumpur and London once, and thought that was great! Not exactly travel related, but somehow the odd, unreal atmosphere of plane travel fitted with the novel.

I think any of the books about 300 pages and less so it's comfortable to sit and read with.

Pfft, I read Don Quixote on a couple of long haul flights. It was awesome. None of this <300 pages nonsense ;-)

I only say that because I once read Anna Karenina on a flight, where I would have preferred something smaller.

Heh, I do have some sympathy with your plight! e.g. there's no way I'd try to read my hardcover War & Peace on a plane! But the flip side is that I like the fact a long plane journey gives you the opportunity to get well into a long novel. Stealing half an hour here or there on something long always means I enjoy it less.

I also usually take shorter books on the plane. I don't like lugging around a lot of weight, but I guess it's personal preference.

The last book I read on a plane was The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. The main character goes on a journey to another town. Although he did not go by plane, it fit pretty well with the travel theme.

I often choose German books for long journeys. I read more slowly in German than in English, so you get more air-miles per page, and it seems to discourage casual conversation. I most often travel between the UK and the Netherlands - obviously, if you're flying to Berlin, you might have to choose a different language for this purpose.

thorold: That's an excellent idea. I think the only problem from my PoV is that I'm often vocab limited. I need the magic of the internet to translate that key word from that chapter ;-)
