historical romance - starts off with heroine being spanked for being a spoiled/dirty brat?

read this over 10 years ago. i dont remember the real plot just that it starts off with the the heroine meeting the later love interest as a child. it is either at someone's keep/castle (can't be 100% sure it's a highlander story) but bascially their two clans/families are gathered (might be for a festival/celebration tha tinvolves other clans) and she is really bratty (might have tracked dirt/mud into the celebration hall) and caused a scene so the love interest grabs her, puts her on his leg and and just spanks her in front of everyone

any help would be appreciated!

SOLVED THIS ON MY OWN! This was the Conquest by Jude Deveraux and she wasn't a child. she just pulled a series of pranks on the love interest, which he did not care for!
