A boy living on an island with his dad goes mainland because his dad has disappeared, only to find all other adults have too.
There is a character that wears a peacoat and had braces but took them off. He finds a kid society that's functioning pretty well, considering. He had been building a machine with his dad, and it turned out that the adults disappeared because he had brought them to the present? (the future for the adults)
Please help! I would like to read it again because it really stuck with me.
