Hi, my name is Tim and I've struggled with how to organize my library. I've received my books largely from three sources (a church member who's brother-in-law was a pastor and passed away, my uncle who is a retired pastor, and thrift store finds.)

I also use WORDSearch Bible as my Bible software and have several hundred books there. Recently I began using Calibre as my eBook manager. Right now that's maybe a hundred more.

Curious what the practical uses of LibraryThing are and who is that better than Calibre?

Blessings,
Tim.

BTW, I'm a seminary student right now and figure now is the time to get organize.

I think this sight has best helped me by letting me actually have my many titles, pastoral and otherwise in one area so I know what I actually have. I have different locations for all these books: Church, farm and on my kindle, so it'd nice knowing. I've also used WORDSearch, but not Calibre.

Hey Tim

I'm in a similar boat. I've been working as a pastor for a few years and am finishing up with my seminary degree this semester. I've had several donated books and the shelves are growing. I figured I wanted to organize them more appropriately than what my "hunch" was when I got them. My hope is to be able to see what I have grouped together. Over time, as I scan in my books, I want to print out labels with the Dewey system and organize them together better.

Steve

Good evening from France! I've retired from pastoral/teaching ministry after 40 years of service. I emigrated on retirement, so whittled my library down to a few thousand books.......
I've been saying I must catalogue the books for years. I downloaded free software to do it, and caught a Rootkit as well. After blatting that, I came to the conclusion that this place is the better option. Still trying to work it all out!
