I can no longer display Old Glory during the Trump era. Everything this administration exhibits is the exact opposite of what the flag has stood for during America's proud history.

You're very typical of misguided United-States-ians who've confused democratic processes with "having things your (their own) way."
You're free to feel ashamed of Trump as president of the United States. For my part, to those who, like you, deplore him, I answer: he was democratically*-elected (in the of course far-from-ideal Electoral-College system). My fellow citizens had their reasons for preferring Trump over Clinton and some of these voters are solidly in the cohort of "highly-intelligent", "well-informed" people.
There was an election and many people--- your fellow citizens--- went to the polls and voted, demonstrating acts of democratic faith which defied their dashed hopes and, once again, their disappointment in a too-predictable system which the Obamas and the Clintons had been skilfully gaming mainly for the benefit of themselves and that of their cliquish circle of rich glitterati donors.
Not proud of Trump and want to indicate that by refusing to fly the flag? Fine. It's your right to dissent in that way.
If Democrats run Joe Biden, here's hoping that people re-elect Donald Trump. He won't do worse for the needy than Biden who, after a lifetime in elective office, has watched, doing just fine for himself, as the country become again as socially and economically divided and miserably unequal as at any time in its far-from-glorious past.
You apparently know little about "America's proud history."

I understand why you, the GOP, Putin and Murdoch/FOX News are very happy campers. I'm glad most of my relatives are not around to view this very sad state of affairs. Fewer than 80k voters spread out over three states made a mob boss and life-long con man the leader of the free world. Many people around the world have thought that Americans were crazy and in 2016 we showed them to be correct. People who preferred to live 19th/20th Century lives in this 21st Century world caused their own problems (coal miners, for instance). Many people hate Dems more than they love their country.

"Many people hate Dems more than they love their country," says the woman who, out of purely partisan pique, has decided to "strike the colors."
Your blindness would be funny if it weren't so sad and pathetic.

Trump's cult followers, the flag and the media are all props in Trump's world-wide reality TV show. He hugs the flag, but he doesn't respect what it represents. I refuse to be a participant/enabler in his show. He cares about three things: himself, his family and his brand.

Right. And that has been asserted, claimed, insisted on, etc., by people who see things just as your comments indicate you do, ad nauseam since before Trump's electoral victory over Hillary Clinton.
So, my advice: do carry on thus. Run your next pre-ordained, cookie-cutter, Dem. candidate (i.e. Joe Biden) on that in 2020. I am sure that that your message, repeated again, shall at last win others to your views.
Meanwhile, you'll have to come up with a new scape-goat nation in order to account for another otherwise inexplicable Trump electoral victory since it is so very obvious that there is nothing wrong in your reasoning, arguments or the assumptions on which they're formed. LOL! Which shall it be? Mexico? North Korea? Trinidad?
Maybe you could fly the Gadsden flag, instead of the current national flag.

Is it legal for me to wipe my ass with the confederate battle flag?
I think it is.
Thus I have no flag issues.
Please continue with your high class discussion of a popular non-issue.

I've never quite understood the reverence/idolatry Americans have for their flag. It's a piece of cloth.
Probably made in China, these days.

"Honour," David? Very few nations could qualify for a flag with such a name.
I propose a different flag, much more in keeping with nearly all nation-states or any number of multi-national organizations' actual demonstrated "principles"
This ((>9 madpoet:) "piece of cloth"):
Rather than, for example, this ("piece of cloth") :
