Despite repeated requests, Barack Obama's campaign is still neither verifying nor denying a CTV report that a senior member of the team made contact with the Canadian government -- via the Chicago consulate general -- regarding comments Obama made about NAFTA.
Allegations of double talk on the North American Free Trade Agreement from both the Obama and Clinton campaigns dominated the U.S. political landscape on Thursday.
On Wednesday, CTV reported that a senior member of Obama's campaign called the Canadian government within the last month -- saying that when Senator Obama talks about opting out of the free trade deal, the Canadian government shouldn't worry. The operative said it was just campaign rhetoric not to be taken seriously.

More importantly, it would take a fool to ignore the fact that Canada's economy will not be hurt by either Obama's or Clinton's policy position regarding NAFTA.
The proposed NAFTA reforms target Mexico's labor standards, shipping standards, environmental standards, et al.

>2 enevada: And, as for the voting present charge, this has been explained repeatedly: Illinois, unlike the vast majority of our states and commonwealths, allows three voting options. A present vote is used by individuals who would not like to vote for the legislation as it currently stands--in other words, those who would like to see the currently legislation modified or defeated and then reintroduced with specific modifications before they vote in the affirmative.

Normally you're above the "blatantly disregard the facts in order to score a partisan point" crowd, enevada.
Are you starting to get a little worried about the candidacy of your man, McCain?

>4 enevada: Ah, I see! Well, I think that you're going to want to choose a more contentious topic. There's no point in flagging an argument which can be easily refuted.

Actually, I've decided to back Francisco Franco's cadaver. I'd like to see Bullfighting become our national sport.
