Great idea. I haven't read any of those books yet, except for Charlotte's Web. I am interested in just about all of them.

So Far, I've read Eragon, Children of Men, Little Children, The Black Dahlia, and All the King's Men.

I am currently reading Flags of our Fathers by James Bradley, so far I have completed reading 42% of the book.

Next book that I might read is Casino Royale - this is a priority because this is included in the book "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die ", though I still haven't purchased yet the book.

is the movie Casino Royale really going to be based on the book? as far as i know, the producers are just using the title but the story will not be the same.

is the movie going to be a sort of prequel to the Bond movies? like Star Wars? or like Batman Begins?

Okay, here is a very weird bit of nonsensical trivia that no one probably cares about but there was a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode based on the book Casino Royale. In fact, until just now I didn't even know it was a real book.

I can't wait for Eragon...I sure hope they do the dragons right.

Has anyone seen The Devil Wears Prada? I hated the book, the main character was such a ditz, she brought all her problems on herself and constantly blamed everyone else.

Cornelia Funke's The Thief Lord was an October release. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

IMBD shows Bridge to Terebithia coming out next March...that was a good book I remember from childhood...although sad.

Harry Potter 5 is scheduled for a July release.

The Casino Royale film takes the premise of the book: a wealthy banker is financing a terrorist group and Bond has to beat him at a casino game to bankrupt him. In the book, Fleming had him belong to SMERSH (Soviet assasination agency), but in the film it's Al-Quaeda. I'm looking forward to the film, but I'm irritated that they changed it from bakarat to Texas Hold'em-- it's a classless decision that panders to the audience.

I just finished reading August Burrough's Running with Scissors. (and his follow up book, Dry) I laughed and laughed at his humor. He made me feel as if my own childhood was almost normal.

Now I'm dying to watch the movie, but since I live in a rural area, I'd have to drive over an hour to see it. :( Is anyone else going to see it/ has already seen it? I want to know if it's good or if it follows the book?

And most importantly, is it worth an hour's drive?

Thnx:)

The film version of The Prestige by Christopher Priest is out in theatres now. I only found out it was a novel after seeing the movie, but the movie is excellent!

Has anyone here read the book of "Children of Men"? Do you recommend it? I enjoyed P.D. James The Murder Room, and it seems interesting to see her precise style applied to futuristic/scifi style.

The Black Dahlia is a great book but the film stank, IMO. I took a friend with me and she slept all the way through it. I wish I'd done the same.

Yes, I've read it very recently - the film was released about a month ago in Australia and I was so impressed by it I had to find the novel too.

I liked the book. It wasn't what I expected and I can see how it would irritate people who like their thrillers taut and fast-paced. But I'd recommend it.

I have read Running with Scissors as well as seen the movie. I had read other books by him before reading this one, and this is by far my least favorite book of his. We saw the movie because it was basically a "we want to see a movie" kind of day and that was the only thing remotely interesting that was showing. I thought the movie was similar to the book- so so. If you really enjoyed the book, you will probably enjoy the movie, in my opinion.

I read Little Children and really loved it! I can't wait to see the movie as well! It may have already passed through here, who knows. I'll keep my eye on it for a DVD rental.

Hi everyone,

I've just read in www.moviecitynews.com that the movie The Painted Veil was nominated for this year's Best Adapted Screenplay in the Independent Spirit Awards... it's one of the critics awards that precedes the Oscars.

I think I'm going to consider the original book for my next reading .
