In case anyone has been in a coma in the last 48 hours and is just now reviving, here is the latest vomitus from the raving lunatic in the W.H., aka the Orange Hitler-Wannabee with the giant skid mark-shaped hairdo: He has revealed himself to be 1. The Chosen One, 2. The Second Coming of god, and 3. the King of the Jews (the King of Israel).
These are the announcements for which The Orange Messiah’s fundamentalist christian followers have been patiently waiting. Only one more sign is needed - he only has to plainly state - orally or by tweet - that "I and the Father are One. I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” - And then it will be “Go Time!” for all True Believers TM to lock and load (or to cock and load) and, while screaming “The Jews Will Not Replace Us” take to the streets and violently establish god’s shining and everlasting theocracy, as prophesied in Revelations.
So, time to duck for cover, heathens. Forget soup - the fact is there will be No More Namaste for YOU!

Not just heathens, but also all those Christians who follow the world's mainstream Christian traditions as opposed to the rather odd manifestations of Christianity which seem to abound in the USA.

I think Trump's usage was a dumb throw-away. It's dumb, but we know that about him. I wouldn't put too much on it.
The evangelical idea that Trump's manifest crimes and unfaithfulness are okay because he's some sort of David or Cyrus figure is, however, disturbing as hell. And very common.
Winners and losers of the Trump era are clear already. And I think the greatest loser is not Democrats or Republicans, blacks or whites, natives or immigrants. What Trump has done was bad, but it will be reversed—and hard. The country is a true loser, because he's degraded it, and there's no good road back.
But apart from that, the loser is Christianity. He seduced and hollowed out a problematic but not unvital faith—American evangelicals. He's laid them low, in hypocrisy, in the lust for power, and in sins from racism to misogyny. And he's turned a faith of millennia, of times and cultures past counting, into a cheap, partisan thing, which half the country will reject out of hand. He's emptied the faith of beauty and truth for believers, and turned it into punch-line for the rest.
I don't think he's the "antichrist." Catholics don't have that sort of belief in the first place. But he's done the work of the antichrist.

And Trump is frequently denounced for things he says in only half-seriously!--or for comments which are distorted out of all recognition from what he actually could be understood to have more likely meant.
Meanwhile, 'Cheer up.' The U.S./American edition of The Politically-correct Moron's Guide to Others' Heretical Thoughts and Deeds (42nd annual revised edition) is long and only getting longer. While the penalty for offenders isn't quite literally death, it's well within "life-ruining." How's "life-ruining" for you?
Send former U.S. Senator Al Franken or Charlie Rose a nice sympathy card reminding them that they're 'lucky' : 'heresy' is no longer a capital crime.
It srikes me as flatly amazing that you could post such a remark from China. China!: one of what are probably the last dozen or so places on earth where all sorts of taboo thoughts can still bring a real death-penalty.
You were just "joking", yeah? Ha-ha-ha. Go and visit some public executions. You shouldn't have to travel far to see some. Then revisit your joke. Seriously. Executing people for holding unauthorized beliefs just really isn't a joking matter. It still happens.

ETA: For the record, if anyone cares, I am opposed to capital punishment. But I can still f#&%ing joke about it!

Good idea - I think we should all go on record.
I myself am not a supporter of capital punishment, strictly for logical and practical reasons. Moral arguments and appeals to emotion seem to fall on deaf ears, from either side to the other, so I eschew such.
----
Yes, this was a joke OP. We need to do something to take our minds off the evil that rules while waiting for the opportunity to do something constructive about it, i.e., voting the evil out.
The latest polls show the ORM (orange raving maniac) to be enjoying a 62 per cent disapproval rating and those who still love to drink the orange Kool-Aid are down to 36 per cent (apparently two per cent of the population is in a coma right now - if and when they wake up lettuce hope they will vote Democratic, lol.)
------
Per religion all the recent polls I've seen seem to indicate that the category "None/unaffiliated" presently constitutes 1 in 5 people in the U.S. and with a positive trend that started back in the late 1990s/early 2000s.
I think hump (lump, chump, grump?) is late to the party as Jim and Tammy Baker, Swaggert, and many other evangelical figures sufficiently revealed to the world the truly ugly face of christian literalism decades ago.
I don't think the evangelical section is really growing as its adherents are just far more public and vocal in public forums and media - IOW, its a technological thing.
----
And BTW I do not think The Orange Supremacist is joking - psychotics don't enjoy senses of humor. I think he has a case of AynRandesque + stupid god-complex taken to a level never before seen in modern times - with the exception of his little buddy Kim Jong Un, an actual bloody dictator (Putin? - he is just a smarter-than-average weasel/thug).

>9 JGL53: how disrespectful from the orange one but he is so self centered should we expect anything else. I am watching a series on Netflix about medal of honor winners and those don't come without huge blood and sacrifice in circumstances that defy any rational humor and usually at the extremes of human capabilities.

I've been curious to know the size of Trump groupies - those who travel from one rally to the next. And surprise, it's the Wall Street Journal who first reports on the phenomenon.
