Flamboyant Puerto Rican astrologer Walter Mercado died November 2 at the age of 88. He wrote Beyond the Horizon: Visions of the New Millennium and El Mundo Secreto de Walter Mercado.

Civil War historian James I. Robertson died November 2 at the age of 89. His many books include Tenting Tonight: A Soldier’s Life, General A. P. Hill and A Concise illustrated history of the Civil War.

Irish broadcaster Gay Byrne died November 4 at the age of 85. He wrote The Time of My Life: An Autobiography.

Former Navy Seal and TV game show Survivor, Rudy Boesch died November 1 at the age of 91. He wrote The Book of Rudy: The Wit and Wisdom of Rudy Boesch.

Famed southern author Ernest J. Gaines died November 5 at the age of 86. He is best known for A Lesson Before Dying and The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. I met him once. :'(

Creator of Topo Gigio, puppeteer Maria Perego died November 7 at the age of 95. She wrote Io e Topo Gigio.
