I begin the year with a beautiful book : The praise singer by Mary Renault. I can't get enough of her "voice".

I continue with a meh book : The battle of forever by Van Vogt. It's dated.

Now, Karen Moning's Dark fever or how a Barbie doll faces very dark and dangerous fae.

A pleasant and easy book with La traque by Gabriel Katz

One more with the magnificent Till we have faces by C.S. Lewis : five stars

Karen Moning's Faefever : Mac has indeed changed from Barbie doll to someone less sunny and unaware.

A very, very old book in my library, and a good one with that, Gilgamesh the king by Robert Silverberg. This is the second historical novel of his I read and it is again a win. Not as good as Lord of darkness but good enough for four stars.

A deception with The winged histories by Sofia Samatar : a missed meeting. It is well structured, it is well written and it couldn't sustain my interest...

Now, The grace of kings by Ken Liu : so fluid and prominent, so well-named...

To day, the harrowing ordeal of Emilio Sandoz in The sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. A hard and rich experiment of mind.

>20 h-mb: One of my all-time favourite books (although I've never dared read the sequel, I can't cope with my heart being broken again!). Emilio is my biggest literary crush, it's just heartbreaking what happened to him.

After a three months long reading breakdown, I come back with Remnant Population by Elizabeth Moon. Not much action but a fascinating book from first to last page.

A historical mystery at the time of Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell : Dissolution by C.J. Sansom.

Good to see you found your reading mode again.

To day, Testaments betrayed by Milan Kundera : unfortunately, he mostly write about great novelists of the 20th century that I don't know very well at all : Musil, Kafka, Joyce, Broch, Gombrowicz... Shame

A little book to introduce people to Montaigne and the richness of his thoughts : A summer with Montaigne by Antoine Compagnon. This was first aired on radio during summer.

A pleasure to read : How to live or a life of Montaigne in one question and twenty attempts at an answer by Sarah Bakewell.
