What book are you "preaching" about now?

I'm using the term "preaching" for lack of a better word, but I'd like to know what book you have read that has you trying to persuade others to read it.
I'll always be pushing Harry Potter on people....it changed my daughter's life, and mine for that matter. But now I am pushing Outlander. Maybe it's just that I was never into the "romancy" stuff and it seems new to me, or maybe it's a tall Scott in a kilt, who knows. It really has made an impression on me and I am telling everyone about it. I hate the fact that I have just found it.

PS. It might be the romance and smut that I like but he could have probably "smacked her ass and called her Betty" and I would have sighed.

Night Watch and Day Watch are my current recommendations. Followed by Gentlemen of the Road and Duma Key. With the exception of Duma Key, the books aren't that well known and all are wonderful.

#1 MDLady - I've been preaching about Outlander ever since I first read it 3 years ago! So preach on - I'm always trying to turn on readers to it. Jamie is by far my favorite literary hero, even exceeding Mr. Darcy (who was my #1 for years!). I'm afraid I've developed quite an obsession for Highland Scots now! LOL!

I've been thumping people with The Road for a year now, especially since the No Country for Old Men movie came out, and for anyone interested in YA/Juv it's Lois Lowry's The Giver or Gossamer or Number the Stars...

Have to agree with you Teacherdad . . . I have recommended and / or bought a copy of The Road for friends and family.

The books I'm pushing lately (mostly at the two libraries where I work):

In YA, I'm pushing Stardust by Neil Gaiman and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak....I also recommend these to adults

In Juvenile, I'm pushing the "Minerva Louise" picture books by Janet Morgan Stoeke and everything by Mo Willems.

In Adult non-fiction, I'm pushing It's All Too Much by Peter Walsh

In Adult fiction, for mysteries, I'm a big fan of LT's own Deanna Raybourn and her Lady Julia Grey series. Non-mystery: Run by Ann Patchett.

How's that for an overly specific and lengthy list!!!

The only book I've recommended that people read is a Stephen King/Peter Straub novel called The Talisman. Fantasy/Horror/Adventure whatever you would call it. I loved it when I first read it and it's one that I re-read.

I'm pushing Tiny Deaths by Robert Shearman because it is a very good book of short stories by a Library Thing author. It's his first book but I hope not his last.

Having said #8 I just remembered another book that I would recommend to those who like mystery/thrillers and that is Intensity by Dean R Koontz.
