I read a romance book around 2000-2003. It was set in late 1800’s or early 1900’s (I believe early 1900’s).
The gentleman had been married before and his wife was killed in a carriage accident.
He remarried and didn’t realize his new bride was a virgin. She drank at the reception to calm her nerves. He thought it was because she was disgusted by having to be with him.
I believe they were also in a carriage accident because he drank and wrecked. She was hurt but didn’t die. He took care of her because of his remorse.
I read this book once and I thought it was a good story line. I have been trying to find it so I could reread it.
Any and all help is appreciated!
