Experiences ordering from Blackwell's UK to the USA?

When I want to order books published in the UK but not readily available in the U.S., I've used Amazon UK and Book Depository in the past. In recent months, Amazon UK has been on and off as to whether they will ship items to my U.S. delivery address, and when available their shipping charges to the U.S. have recently gone up quite considerably. My experience with Book Depository has been mixed, with long ship times and many orders arriving damaged (though they have always replaced or refunded, so good on their customer service).

I see that UK-based Blackwell's includes delivery to the USA in their online prices, and the prices are very competitive. Can anyone share their experience buying from Blackwell's and shipping to the U.S.? I'd love to hear about other people's experiences before trying them out. Thanks in advance!

>1 astroliber: I've ordered two things from Blackwell's, but it's been some time. I didn't put any haste on it, and it arrived in reasonable time. It's just been quite a while ago that I did it, and I hesitate to say you'll be fine. Try something small first, and see how it goes.

I know their store in Oxford, and have always gotten excellent service, even when my questions were very poorly worded. I haven't shopped there online, but only because the kind of books I would buy from them would require real browsing. I can't imagine them being anything but fully professional.

(By 'poorly worded' I mean, she asks 'Are you looking for something in particular?' My response is, 'Well, I'd really like to know if Walter has published something new, but I can't remember his family name.' She found a book by him and a festschrift for him. And all without a sign that I didn't seem quite together.)
