"In a galaxy not far, far, far enough away"...
It's just not that easy to feel sorry for Hollywood film-stars, super-pampered, super-rich, or "the talent," to use the standard industry term for them, but "The Old Guard", a moronic, absurdly un-thought-out plot, from Netflix, nearly succeeds in prompting feelings of pity for Charlize Theron, the lead actor in the film.
If one of the Bozos at Netflix ever bothered to ask, "Why should anyone watch this?" I suppose the answer came back, "Who cares? It's Netflix, they'll watch whatever we put out."
Here's a film by bored people with too much time and money on their hands and too little imagination for what they might do with those assets. A film for bored people with too much time and money and too little idea of what they might do instead of watching this idiotic plot.
"A covert team of immortal mercenaries are suddenly exposed and must now fight to keep their identity a secret just as an unexpected new member is discovered."
A childish-wish-fulfillment piece of nonsense (what else?*) for people who'd like to escape the fact that their real-world lives lack justice, agency or any realistic grounds to hope for either of these.
Discuss (this dreck? our plight?)?
"Does Anyone Care?"

* the alternative Hollywood "idea" is to do a re-make of a old film—a bad re-make.
Note to Hollywood: In the future, everything, everything without exception, is a constant fucking commercial product advertisement.
Political protests will stop every few minutes to present a commercial. News of the protests will carry more in ads than in news-content. The ads will be the main "feature", the protest, just an excuse to promote the products.
They're mercenaries, they're covert—or, well, they were— they fight—or, well, they did—for "right", and they're immortal. But, oh! Shit!, they've now been "exposed", in view of mortals. What a fucking drag! Besides, how are they to fight for "right" when they're no longer incognito? (the film-plot's sole realistic aspect, that.) Who does that!?
Now their attention is turned from fighting for "right" to fighting to "keep their identities secret", since, well, it's nice to be immortal but really a drag to be immortal and in view of the dreary ordinary mortals.
You'd think that, in Hollywood, someone should have thought of the solution, already so common there: "gated luxury-estates." Who needs "right" or "justice" when one has immortality and a gated luxury estate?
Stupid Hollywood!, stupid, stupid, stupid!

By chance I was watching a YouTube video yesterday of British comedian Micky Flanagan doing a sketch on how stupid people used to stay out of the limelight but now they seem to be very visible and even celebrated.

Oh, wait,
with a whole nation of infantilized adults, "The Old Guard" (discussed above >1 proximity1:) really couldn't have sufficed and, in fact, was merely the result of some previous "practice" : Netflix's "The Umbrella Academy" in which we find what makes "The Old Guard" look like a sober docu-drama.
To describe it, here's "Re-cap Man," The Man of Recaps (at Youtube.com) summarizing all of Season 1 of "The Umbrella Academy" (in only 11.0166666 minutes) which, then, in retrospect, makes "The Old Guard" something we should refer to as "Drek 2(.0)" and "The Umbrella Academy" then simply "Drek", the original (unless I've still missed its progenitor).

Not quite sure what the original aim of this thread was, but talking of stupid people...
Egypt tells Elon Musk its pyramids were not built by aliens (BBC)
Egypt has invited billionaire Elon Musk to visit the country and see for himself that its famous pyramids were not built by aliens. The SpaceX boss had tweeted what appeared to be support for conspiracy theorists who say aliens were involved in the colossal construction effort. But Egypt's international co-operation minister does not want them taking any of the credit...

But have Demons been ruled out as having helped with the construction?
Perhaps one of our right wing friends should check in with tRUMP's favorite doctor to find out. - Inquiring minds and all that.....
