YA Fantasy Where kids go through rigorous testing

There are a bunch of kids going through a series of tests
The last test the character can pick a few objects then navigate down a long stretch of land to win
Somewhere in the middle a random man outside of the borders of the race gives her bread
Story ends with her memory being wiped but she saved her memories on a recorder
Pretty sure this opened it up for a sequel
