Series info not removed from work page when series is deleted

Series info on work pages seems permanent, at least in cases dating back to CK series. The latest example I encountered:
https://www.librarything.com/work/10796588
I deleted the series https://www.librarything.com/nseries/209325/Il-Divano-Sellerio-236 , but it still shows on the work page

>1 SandraArdnas: Yeah, I've noticed that too. When I previously ran into a redundant single-work 'series' like that, I avoided this issue by removing the work from the series in addition to deleting the series. It does seem like a bug deserving a systemwide solution, though; I think the only place that deleted series memberships should be shown is inside the series/relationship editing popup, with "(deleted)" notes added next to them.

>2 Opteryx: So it's possible to remove the work and then the info is updated? Good to know if that's a workaround.
This one is actually a part of a publisher series, so I added it there and deleted this one. I guess I could undelete, remove the work and redelete, but I'll leave it for now for bug trackers to investigate

>3 SandraArdnas: I agree with leaving it as-is for now as a demonstration of the issue. It is possible to access a deleted series's add/organize page to potentially remove the book without undeleting first, but I haven't tried doing it in that order yet.

>1 SandraArdnas: You deleted the series but you didn't remove those associated with the series before you deleted it?
When it did this to me before, I always removed all works before deleting the series. Then it disappears.

If the removal is required, the system should not allow the deletion of series which contain works.

>6 AnnieMod: And the whole point of retaining all the numerous deleted serieses in the system at all is so their contents can be looked back at and restored if needed, which doesn't help much if their contents had to be removed to stop cluttering up those works' pages (i.e. leaving nothing to meaningfully restore).

>7 Opteryx: Really? I thought they were going to go away soon. The only ones I thought were maintained for posterity sake were the merged ones that were archived.
But then again, I only delete when it's a useless and duplication of a series. If a series is needs to change from Series to Publisher, it's a click of a button now, not an extensive rewrite.

I have seen a lot of deleted redundant series in the series search results when looking for other things recently; enough that I don't think they ever go away, currently. Some that I checked the edit history on were deleted more than 6 months ago. At least they do say "(deleted)" after them in the search results page.
>8 gilroy: "I only delete when it's a useless and duplication of a series."
That's the kind of series we've been talking about here - in OP's example, an extensive publisher series already existed, but someone had accidentally created a standard series with only one of the books in it.

>8 gilroy: Speaking of moving from series to publisher series, I'm not sure if that removes the series info on the work page either. Will check when I see and report.
11SandraArdnas
>5 gilroy: That is counter-intuitive to me and it didn't occur to me at all until Opteryx mentioned it as a workaround. It's useful to know as a workaround, but really shouldn't be needed

Happy to report that moving from series to publisher series removes old series info on work pages. Only deleting the series (without removing the works from it before) leaves the no longer valid series info on work pages.
Incidentally, the same bug does not plague the author pages, which update normally after series deletion

I believe this was a known bug back when Series came online and no matter how many times people pointed to it, Tim ignored it.
