ca_dmv...Here we go again!

So I'm back to give this another go. It really helped to keep me on track with my reading in 2020. Who would have ever thought that I would need something to keep me going but "life" continues to interfere with my reading time. By having this goal set, even a modest one of 12 books, I'm reminded to set aside time to do what I most enjoy.

Thoughts/comments on my friends:

1. Patience & Fortitude - Some really interesting and entertaining parts. I won't remember much but I felt like I was being educated at the time!

2. The Breed Wars - I really enjoyed this trilogy that I started in 2020. Makes me wonder if I've been missing something by avoiding the fantasy genre.

3. Solar Flare - I liked the premise of the story...what happens to society when a solar flare disrupts electrical generation and electronics for over 7 months. I was disappointed with the writing.

4. Wink: The Incredible Life and Epic Journey of Jimmy Winkfield - An incredible story about the life of an amazing athlete.

5. Eye of the Storm - I always enjoy reading Jack Higgins and this book was no different.

6. The Eden Hunter - This is billed as historical fiction but I’m not sure how much is history and how much is fiction. The focus of the story was following Kau, a runaway slave, attempting to find something resembling his African home.

7. Caribbean - Even though it took "forever" to get through this book, I really enjoyed the history of the Caribbean Islands. Some of the history I remembered from my various trips to the Islands.

8. Jennifer: An O'Malley Love Story - I really enjoyed the O'Malley series when I read the series years ago. I was surprised to find this book listed on Dee Henderson's website. I always felt that Jennifer's story was told throughout the series.

9. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - The story was very enjoyable and interesting. I had no idea that the island of Guernsey in the English Channel Island was occupied by the Germans during WWII.

10. The Girl Who Played with Fire - The saga continues with another great crime story. I expect that the last novel in the trilogy will be just as good. I read the first book in the trilogy back in June 2019. I don't know why it took so long to take this one off the shelf.

11. Panic in Level 4 - I have read The Hot Zone and The Demon in the Freeze. When I saw the title and author, I thought this would be real life stories about accidents occurring in a Level 4 facility. Instead, it was an interesting read on some of the "fringe" topics in science.

12. The Old Man and the Sea - It was time to take a classic off of the shelf and dust it off. What a sad, bittersweet ending to the story. I'm glad I finally finished a Hemingway novel but I'm not a fan of his writing style.

13. The Third Twin - Ken Follett did not disappoint in delivering a fast-paced story of intrigue and suspense. The science behind the story in interesting and will someday be true if it isn't already.

14. Finding Noel - This is a Hallmark movie in book form and was my Christmas story for 2021. Sometimes you just need a feel good story where you know that everything will turn out in the end.

Ugh...I was off to such a good start then was totally dragged down by a book that sucked the life out of me. I'm regrouping in March!

Now I'm curious which book did that to you!

Good to regroup and start again this month. I hope you can read some nice friendly books.

Ok...what happened to March!!! I can't believe it's April already. Really enjoyed my time with Wink! Took a while to get through it but I'll "cheat" and find a small book to make up some ground. LOL!!!

Whew...spent more time in the Caribbean than I anticipated. Time to "cheat" with a quick read!
