Decided to start a new thread as the previous one was over 400 posts long.
The final post in the previous thread was Love is Enough, at approximately 20 copies, just a few days after the email going out announcing 50 copies left.

>1 U_238: Thanks for this thread. I try to keep pretty close track of this, as well, but lots of folks are not so obsessive, and even for myself, it's nice to have another set of eyes paying attention to this. :)

LE Love is Enough now down to 15!
I bought my copy 2 yrs ago, such a beautiful book. If anyone is undecided, this is the moment to buy before they go!

The Herodotus LE is now "over three-quarters sold" rather than "over two-thirds sold". No counter yet, though.

Ooops--sorry, I posted in the old thread. Now down to seven copies and will probably be gone later today.

Before I purchased, (1:37 a.m. in Canada), there were two remaining in stock - checked again immediately after payment, zero left. Phew, insomnia was my friend last night ;).

>8 trickytrix: I share your pain, I believe my order is fulfilled and being posted! I always leave my LE orders to the last moment, due to the fact I can ill afford them, but like other members of this group I alas crumble!

>9 stumc: Yes, this has been on my radar since it was first published. I still have the original LE prospectus and order form, it kept taunting me for the last 3 years ;).
It isn't readily available on the second hand market - thus, knew it would eventually cost me more. Succumbed, as I knew one day I would, albeit at the very last minute (that was a close one)!
By the way, I received my shipping info a few hours ago :).

I've had Gargantua and Pantagruel on my wish list since it was released but hesitated over the size. I don't have shelving that can properly accommodate it, but I've finally taken the plunge as I always sort of knew I would. Looking forward to seeing this beast in person :)

>13 jsavoy: Once you see it, the phrase 'eight full page illustrations and one double page spread' will take on a hollow ring ... :)

The FS edition looks truly magnificent. Is it in the realms of possibility that FS might bring out a regular (or 'fine') edition of this like they did with Zhivago?
With the combination of the Screech translation and the complete Doré illustrations they would be doing a great service if they did. Wishful thinking perhaps.
In any case, for those who own the Limited Edition, congratulations, and I envy you!

>15 GardenOfForkingPaths: It's amazing, definitely my favourite LE. Did you know that Doré averaged six drawings per day for every day that he lived? And that doesn't include his paintings ...

>16 red_guy: That is incredible! Considering how beautiful the artwork is, I can hardly believe it. I just have a Don Quixote edition with his illustrations and yes, it is a beast of a book.
I can't afford to get this LE, especially now with the taxes and customs, but I really hope that FS think about a standard edition. This is a stunning book and I would have loved to own it.

>16 red_guy: Doré had a workshop of up to 40 artisans that executed many of the details of his designs at the height of his career. Still impressive, of course, but it's not like he was actually involved in all the details.
The illustration of Gargantua and Pantagruel was one of his first major works, so I suspect he was more directly involved, or even completely responsible.

This limited edition has been at "less than 100 copies remaining" forever! Interesting that they finally added a stock counter.
This is the Folio Society edition of highest priority on my wishlist. (For a while I had a tab dedicated to the product page on my tablet.) I keep hoping the Society puts it on sale to help clear out the remaining copies, like they did with the Letterpress Shakespeare...

I would be surprised if Roadside Picnic isn't discounted in the next sale. It wasn't included in the last one and has sold slowly. It's a very basic limited edition.

>31 BriainC: I hope so -- I'll probably buy it. Wasn't happy with the paper-bind on the SE.

I've been surprised to see the numbers on that slowly dropping at full price since the last sale.

No FOMO for Rob Roy?
A sure candidate for BOGOF.

>36 HonorWulf: Poor Rupert Brooke. Had the limitation of this first book of the WWI Poets been smaller, we would have maybe gotten to see the series continue past 3 books (and they are very lovely books)
38HonorWulf
>37 AdPacem: Agreed, those 1750 copy limitations were... optimistic.
41FitzJames
The Tale of Peter Rabbit now shows as OOS, tho' the entire Last Chance page is looking rather slim possibly in advance of the upcoming sale.
