Fantasy/Romance/Time Travel
Main characters: Fae (elvin/sprite) warrior female; Human warrior male raised in a monastery
Book 2 in the series, I think (I know it's not the first book in the series - that one follows a different couple - the main characters for this book were in the first book as support characters)
Time frame: Medieval times (definitely not modern), time of battles with swords
Main plot: Battle coming, female is taken by creatures (orcs/goblins?) into underground tunnels, male follows her underground goes a little crazy and rescues her, battle won
Scenes I remember:
She leads him to a tower and climbs the stairs in front of him. He is obsessed with the flash of her thighs that he can see as she climbs the stairs. She makes him a posset which he will use later in the book to help rescue her.
After she is taken he chases her through the tunnels and kills the creatures that have taken her. They are a small part of a larger force of creatures heading for the final battle. He sticks an arrow through the posset and shoots it down an empty tunnel. They hide in a niche as the creatures chase the smell of the posset. There is a sex scene sometime after this in the tunnels while they are still being hunted.
During the final battle she is injured and a dragonwyrm? curls around her to protect her. A male supporting character falls through some kind of wormhole/time portal during the battle and she and he have some kind of connection. She can feel him as he falls through time. She has these feelings for a while after the battle.
One of the last scenes in the book, she is lying on the branch of a tree telling birds a story. The male and female have sex in the grass under the tree. She wakes up sometime later and tells the male that the support character has landed in time.
Things I kinda remember:
They have sex on an island before she is taken
She plaits an elf lock? into his hair on the island
A frozen cave in the tunnels
She was a support character in a previous book and failed that character somehow
Someone else was supposed to make him the posset but he doesn't trust that person so she offers to do it
I think there were roses on the cover or it might have been pink
I know I read the book before 2010 and I think it may have been before 2004 but I'm not sure
