Lately I have been seeing "abridged versons of" on works I feel that it is not suitable for,
For example Lightspeed Magazine, Issue 68 - which is apparently an abridged version of Barsk: The Elephants' Graveyard. Except of course it isn't. It is a magazine that contains an excerpt from Barsk. I have seen similar for certain anthologies too.
If you are someone who is doing this please don't. The magazine isn't an abridged version of Barsk. I am not even sure the excerpt of Barsk can be called an abridged version - it is just an excerpt (and that is what Lightspeed call it).
I don't think that people are ever going to enter these sort of excerpts as individual works so maybe what we should do is lobby Tim for a "Contains an excerpt of" in the relationships instead.

I think I'd lobby for "Contains an abridged version of" as that's probably used a lot more (consider Readers Digest Condensed Books). But absolutely - post it in RSI!
