Found: fantasy romance -forced marriage

I don't remember the author or title, but I'm pretty sure it's part of a series. the plot as I remember it is MC is on boat with her sisters? that docks at an island and is sold to king for safe passage. King recognizes her as person who can 'tame the dragon of the island' and stop the natural disasters. Not clear on that part, but I do remember that she was forced to walk barefoot across the volcanic island, destroying her feet, and thus was bedridden for a good while of the book. She couldn't speak the language, but they eventually found a way to communicate with pictures and charades until she found a language tutor.
