I just started a new challenge group for 2022. I then started a new post. However, I cannot view this post. It claims there are no messages. I even did some searching to see if I could find the post in other ways. Not working. The new group is "The X Book Challenge". I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.
Thanks!
Thanks!

The group has this notice: You must be a member of this group to see discussion topics.
You are the administrator of the group but you did not join it. If you join can you see your messages?

I'm not given an option to join my own group b/c I am already listed as a member-- at least that is what I can see.

On https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/23567/The-%5BX%5D-Book-Challenge-2022 there should be a blue Join Group button at the upper right.
5Ellesee
There is not. I can send you a screenshot if that is possible.. I have an ADMIN button, and below that an EDIT GROUP button. No Join Group button.

Sorry, I have no idea. Perhaps a Group Admin of some other Group will know the answer.

I can see my posts if I do an admin edit and allow anyone to see posts rather than just members, but according to the stats, I am a member already so I should be able to see the posts regardless of whether I allow only members to see or anyone. It is confusing.

Thanks for the report. I'm digging into this now.

>1 Ellesee: Quick question: your first and third posts to the group— https://www.librarything.com/topic/337051 and https://www.librarything.com/topic/337053— are showing up as deleted by you when I view them as a member of the group. Did you indeed hit the "Delete" button from those messages (under each message, click "More", then "Delete", then "OK" to confirm)?
ETA: I found the missing topics under your Ignored Topics (see https://www.librarything.com/talk under the "More" lefthand menu, then click to view Ignored Topics - I've already unignored those missing threads, but please re-ignore them if that was your intention). Did you hit the "x" button next to the threads or accidentally ignore them? I'll keep testing on my end.

Testing Notes
1. Testing an existing group that I admin, I can see new posts that I make.
2. >8 Taliesien: I tested posting to your group, as you, and was able to immediately see my new post. Can you try testing again on your end and let me know if you're still missing the post, initially? I wonder if there were simple server delays occurring over the weekend.
3. Created my own test group, using the same settings as @Ellesee's new group, made a test post immediately. I'm able to see the post.
Conclusion: I cannot reproduce this. Scratch that. See subsequent posts.

>11 kristilabrie: ETA: lies! I was able to reproduce this as a non-LT admin. (my test account here)
Group created: https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/23570/Test-Group-Ignore
Immediate post: https://www.librarything.com/topic/337107
Back to group page: post is invisible by me. Not in ignored topics. I can view the direct thread, but not from the Group page.
NB: there's an entire group gallery in here (uploaded by @conceptDawg) that I didn't attach at all: https://www.librarything.com/gallery/group/23570. Why??

To reproduce:
1. Log into a non-LT admin account.
2. Go to Groups page, then scroll to the bottom and click to "Create a Group" https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/edit
3. Create a new Group, with any details you like. Just make sure you set "Who can see group discussions?" to "only group members".
4. Click "Create Group" to create the group.
5. From the new group page, click "Post a new topic" and enter any topic title/text. Click "Post message". Message will post. Grab the post URL for later.
6. Click the Group name from the Topic page to go to the group page.
Bug: The Topic you just posted to the group is invisible from the group page.
Go to the direct topic page you grabbed from Step 5. You can view the direct topic, but not from the group page.
NB: this bug does not happen for LT admins (can create new groups and see new self-authored topics) or for new group members (can create new topics and see them, and can also see admin's new topics), only group admins. The bug also does not happen for topics by group members: as an admin, I can see members' new topics. I can only not see my own new topics within the new group. I have not tested new topics by admins within existing groups, yet. Can test that later if needed.
Also, per >8 Taliesien:'s testing, he mentioned being able to see his topics 6-8 hours later. Possibly some delay between new group creation and the setting allowing you to view your topics within the group, as a member.

>Hi Kristilabrie
I can now see my topics and yes I did delete two. I don't recall ignoring the topics for the Group when I made them. They simply did not appear.
It seems from this thread that the issue is one of delayed posting. So, if I post something new I won't be able to see it right away if I am the admin of the group? Is this something that can be fixed?
