Friday afternoon Update:
Books Read From: Devil You Know by Kit Rocha. Stallion Gate by Martin Cruz Smith. I started listening to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling.

Books finished in this week's Readathon: Chaos Monkeys by Antonio Garcia Martinez. Last Night At the Ritz by Elizabeth Savage. Raven Tower by Anne Leckie
Time reading: half an hour at lunch
Time posting:
Food: left over mac and cheese and a piece of ham.
Thoughts: Raven Tower is a very strange book. The recording is well done, but the content of this fantasy is strange. Not at all what I expected from Leckie after reading her Imperial Radch series. Oh well - I guess good author's can't hit on all cylinders all the time. I immediately started listening to Book 6 in the Potty Harry series since I will be traveling for Kansas starting on Wednesday. Time to get into the holiday spirit.
Non-book activities: work

Total books finished since the read-a-thon began: 185

If so, what can I do around the house in the dark to prepare for Christmas Eve? My mind is swimming in thoughts. Oh My Gosh! I forgot to pick up the cabbage at the grocery store on Thursday. Must get that first thing on Saturday.

Saturday night Update
Books Read From: Devil You Know by Kit Rocha. Stallion Gate by Martin Cruz Smith. Honey Bus: A Memoir of Loss, Courage and a Girl Saved By Bees by Meredith May. I am listening to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling.

Books finished in this week's Readathon: Chaos Monkeys by Antonio Garcia Martinez. Last Night At the Ritz by Elizabeth Savage. Raven Tower by Ann Leckie
Time reading: 1 hour at lunch
Time posting:
Food: Left overs
Thoughts: I got another Gingerbread Bundt Cake baked today and this one was perfect. I stopped at a bakery and noticed that they had an apple pie for sale for $39.00. Blueberry was priced at $40.00. If pies are worth that much I figure that my gingerbread cakes are worth $25.00 each. I need to get another one baked tomorrow and one on Tuesday in order to have enough for the neighbors. This time the cake came out of the pan perfectly. Just goes to show that in order to do baking right you have to be there and hit all those sweet spots.

A quiz night on Zoom. There was a round on art and literature where we did ok but several teams did similarly well. We fell foul of the second of two questions on the Narnia books. I didn't know the answer to the first question about a statue in Copenhagen but a team mate said something about a naked woman and I said oh, is it The Little Mermaid? I've heard a couple of TV or radio things about mermaid novels recently and Hans Christian Andersen was of course Danish. It was the right answer!

Monday morning Update
Books Read From: White Hot Hate: A True Story of Domestic Terrorism in America's Heartland by Dick Lehr. Devil You Know by Kit Rocha.

Raven Tower by Ann Leckie.
Time reading: 1 hour before bed last night and 1 hour this morning.
Time posting:
Food: left over gingerbread cake
Thoughts: White Hot Hate continues to interest me. Partly because I lived 30 miles from Garden City back in the 1980's and saw the demographic changes that were taking place in the city. I am almost 100 pages into the book now and have no intention of stopping reading it. I had an appointment this morning but I ended up waiting and the only book I had with me was Devil You Know so I read about 30 pages in that book. I have picked out the books I am taking home with me to read while I am on vacation, and already have them in the car. I usually take four books and that is what I am taking this time. However, they are big books and I usually don't get that much reading done while at home, so I doubt I will get all four of them read before I come back. I guess I will see.
Non-book Activities: Still doing some laundry and lots of baking. Tomorrow will be a nice day so I am going to clean out my car and do all of my packing in between baking more gingerbread cakes. I will leave for home on Thursday.

Total books finished since the read-a-thon began: 185
Total time reading for the Read-A-Thon since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 500 hours since April 2020.
